To me he is nothing like Prince.. I don't sense any raw emotion in his music and find it all a bit too cold and clinical, and a bit dare I say, boring... Just looking at that picture of him his eyes look completely glazed over and he has a very wooded expression on his face, and he's looking away from the camera. Whereas Princey is staring intensely into the camera...Sooo sexy Ooohh I've got goose pimples now... He seems like a man who doesn't really like women. He seems to write mens music. Sorry but David Bowie is just not for me! [Edited 8/29/09 2:58am] "mens music"? I think I know what you're saying. Bowie went through a "cold" period. 76-80 definately. It's a matter of taste certainly but hell, I love the shit out of Bowie's "cold" material. The intro section to Station To Station is one of my most favorite pieces of music by ANYONE. But the track "Heroes" to me, is very emotional sounding. I think the track is beauitful. Bowie sounds very passionate on those vocals. I mean, he doesn't have the screams that Prince employs on The Beautiful Ones, u know...But still. But see, I'm the cat that digs Bowie's "We Are The Dead" from Diamond Dogs and "Time" from Aladinsane. I love that shit right there. It's hard to say Bowie did "mens music" though from Man Who Sold The World, Hunky Dory and Ziggy Stardust. I mean, Bowie during this stage was HELLA "effeminate" to say the least. All to Bowie's doing, mind you. It was all very purposeful. He's the cat, next to Little Richard, that people associated the word "androgynous" with. This was waaaay before Prince took that word for himself. Bowie owned that title all through the 70's. [Edited 8/30/09 0:49am] SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. His music doesn't make me want to get up and dance I suppose.. Oh apart from Let's Dance.. I actually liked his version of Dancing In The Street with Mick Jagger. I thought they were both really funny in the video as well. Shut up already, damn. | |

Man, "Stay" is extremely funky. Niles from Chic said straight out that this song inspired the hell out of him and Bernard Edwards and u can definately hear "Stay" all up in Chic's sound. Especially in the interplay between Nile on guitar and Bernard on bass in many of of Chic's songs. But yeah, this here is funky, right along with Luther! But maybe "funky" doesn't equate to making somebody want to dance. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

blackguitaristz said: pplrain said: Idk, I am not coming on to BG you can have him all to yourself. I tend to like his points on music, how he looks at it and his take on other musicians. He sees it differently than I do. Well, thanx for the compliments but I don't think Jennifer is trippin' or green with envy. She knows what time it is. And the "She knows what time it is" part means that she, Jennifer, belongs to me. Heart, body, soul and mind....the whole 9. I wouldn't want somebody to belong to me if I weren't into them. So that goes without saying. Thus that's my very clear as day meaning on what "She knows what time it is." That's self explanatory especially since I stated "Jennifer isn't trippin' or green with envy." You see, there is no reason for her to be simply for the reasons I just stated. For all others that don't understand this post, it's cool. Don't trip. That means that u weren't supposed to. But for the ones that are "affected" by it, aaaah, then yeah, that's a tell tell sign that it was for u. [Edited 9/2/09 1:55am] SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Prince could do an amazing cover of that nowadays don't you think? Yeah, definately. I think he could have done a great cover of it during 82/85 as well. It has all of the elements that he used a lot back then...His live drumming, the funk bass line, double that with the distorted rock riff on the axe, the piano and the keyboard synth, yeah,...I think he could have killed it during the 1999/Purple Rain era. He would have totally captured the spooky demonic sound that's on Bowie's version too. But he probably would have had the sound of rain played in reverse or some shit.
