But I know the feeling you're experiencing. When I was a kid, if ONE MORE ADULT said to my friends and I: "Enjoy it while you're young", I swear - I think our heads would have exploded. We WERE enjoying it, we were just tired of hearing it, lol.

I had a Biology teacher in the 10th grade, Mrs. Bumgarner, that kept a sign over her door that read: "These ARE the good old days", and we used to make fun of that sign everyday and sarcastically smirk... "Yeah Right!". But NOW, decades later when I think back to that sign... GUESS WHAT?!? touched

To put things in perspective: Music ALWAYS sounds better when you have memories to associate it with. Memories take time to develop. Trust me, there will be a certain number of today's songs that you feel SUCK now, that will bring a nostalgic tear to your eye when you hear them 25 years from now. Oh yeah, it'll happen, lol. nod

It may be somewhere in the forum rules. Check that part about not requesting bootlegs. It might be in there somewhere.

Is it technically a bootleg since it aired on television?
It's not like it was taped without Prince's knowledge.
Clarification please?

The whole post was on point but I'm totally feeling the bolded part. Thank God Prince isn't normal and boring like that.

The bolded part is pretty much what he is now, so that's the irony of the whole thing!! He just stands around strumming a guitar wearing a damn suit. He does NOT put on a "show" anymore. As I've said before, you could pretty much close your eyes at a Prince show and not miss a damn thing. Because there's just nothing to see anymore.

He's resting on his laurels of being an unheralded live performer from the PAST. When people (not us ardent Prince fans/nuts) say there's nothing like a live Prince show, they're speaking of his PAST shows/tours, generally from the 80s. Ah well...I'm just glad I was around to see the real/true Prince back in the day, AND have it documented in my "collection".

Ahhh, another post where someone thinks a 51 year old man should be able to dance like he was 25. If you can't enjoy watching Prince's expressions, guitar playing, keyboards, drums, etc., then stay home and leave your seat for someone who appreciates the talent in whatever form he brings it.

To clarify.

If the question was "how can I travel back to 1985 and tune into the Grammy Awards on tv to view Prince" that would be OK.

Since it is not available on TV in 2009, not on an official release, youtube Prince vids are not allowed on the org, and requesting unofficial recordings is not allowed, it's really already pretty clear.
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

and when his shawl hits the mic stand and he picks back up, it hits him in the mouth!!! CLASSIC!!

I wanted to see if anybody was going to mention that part. razz Yeah, I saw this when it aired on Feb 26, 1985. Just a few days after I saw him for the second time at The Forum in L.A. on the Purple Rain tour. The Grammys that year were at The Shrine Auditorium, also out here in L.A. It was a great performance, even the part when the mic popped him in the mouth. Hard.... But P being the true pro that he is, didn't miss a beat. He got that ruffled sleeve loose from that gawt damn mic stand and kept on steppin'. cool I always prefered P at the AMA, almost exactly a month earlier, on Jan 28, 85 when he totally turned it out performing Purple Rain. To me, THAT'S his best television performance ever. But yeah, this one at The Grammys too was good. I also liked when Wendy's father, Mike Melvoin, introduced the band...That cat was besides himself with joy and pride.

Ok but I just thought a programme is a programme. Nobody is earning money from it now. People post Youtube here all the time. Seriously we aren't getting any younger and Prince is old (wake up he is 50!). And yet judging by your post (Im guessing you're young by your comment alone) your on a site who the artist is 50 the irony of it all rolleyes

So in all fairness it would not be fair to say the opposite word of "old" correct?

What some don't understand or don't "get" is that us "old"er ones was there that time when he was big and MTV was a ONLY music channel not this reality BS that is on now. THAT was music AND Prince as the poster stated. Let's see you at 50 60 or 70 jump on top of a speaker and not break YOUR hip. neutral

Good post. Just think, in a few decades people will sit there and sob over the fact that "it ain't like it used to be, like in the good ol' days when you could still hear artists like Lil' Wayne and Lady Gaga being played... And ohhh, I miss the days when Prince could deliver an album like Planet Earth. His new music sucks! cry"

Hahahaha, I love when people are out of touch. There is plenty of fucking amazing music being made today, you guys just don't know who's making it.

Although popular music is much worse than it used to be thanks to Clear Channel, there are still plenty of great bands out there nowadays. Music is just as "real" now as it was then, you're all just glamorizing a period that either:

a) you were never there for
or
b) reminds you of when you were young and nostalgia clouds your logic.

I am on here because Prince has created some of the best music I have ever heard. I am also on other CURRENT bands' websites for the very same reason. You all are blissfully unaware of what great music is out there right now and that's okay... but don't try to say that music now is somehow "worse" than it was 20 years ago because that is a terribly ignorant generalization and makes you look like a know-it-all.

...also, I'm amazed at how so many people get locked into only one genre, then discount anything that falls outside that genre as worthless. Every day I hear music that I have never heard before, some of which was even made years ago. Then there's tons of great new music that comes out every week. Those glorious Old School Jams from back in the day that we all hold in such high regard make up about 20-30% of what I listen to on any given day.

Respectfully I would suggest; that people who are discontent with the current music that is available today, are in actuality discontent with the current dynamics of their own personal situations (...AND romanticizing the past - which is always very easy to do).

He totally was turned up and on high watt speed during this per4mance all the things he fit in that short little segment was amazing. Kind of like the NAACP 2005 per4mance...
