I take the good with the bad with Prince. His bad is usually better than the best of what 90% of the industry has had to offer me in the last thirty years.

That's not to say that I love his music so much that I can't enjoy anyone else's songs. Far from it. I just know I've listened to him for twenty years or more now and the affection I have for him and his work hasn't waned. I have no idea what type of fan that makes me. His music makes me feel hot and invincible, from For You to No More Candy 4 U, even when it teeters on the edge of silly and laughable (and it does at times), because of the personality that comes through in the albums.

I've never had the pleasure of seeing him live and I don't have thousands of dollars invested in tour memorabilia or rare singles/videos and I've never made a trip to Paisley Park (though that may be in the works).

Zappa's dead.

Bowie's retired (so it seems).

Prince is the last of a very special breed of musician.

And I think Prince should cover "Ghost Busters" and rock that song on his guitar!

I'm a fan that likes all his albums, some more than others obviously. There are certain songs I skip but there are only a few of them. I have several hard to find gems but there is more that I don't have than I do according to bootleg lists. I have seen him live only 3 times but WOW! I also tend to like his newer stuff even though I'm a fan of most all of his body of work. I tend to like more the songs that aren't his hits. Of course he hasn't really had an actual hit single in quite some time. I gave up on trying to get others(my friends & my wife) to like Prince music. After years of effort w/o any positive results, I've found that there's something wrong w/ me or all of them... who knows?
