Live at the Alladin image quality on 46" screen

Hey guys,

I was trying to watch the Alladin DVD on my new 46 inch Panasonic Plasma TV, but the image is pixely. Anybody else have the same problem? I am using an upconverting samsung dvd player and i connected it to the tv set using composite cables.

As a matter of fact, the 1990 Tokyo DVD looks much better on my tv than the official Alladin release...so, is it my system or is it the dvd that creates this problem?

Thanks

the image quality of the Alladin DVD isn't very good quality.. like u said, there are other (unofficial) dvd's who's image quality is much better.

Same here. Most dvd's have this though when you update to HD.

composite cables are the second worst after coax ariel cables. if it's a new tv and an upscaling played it should have hdmi, so try connecting via that and you should see a notable improvement in picture quality

the next best to hdmi is component cables, a set of 3 RCA phono's to split red, green and blue, you can also get HD video from this

after that the next best is scart set on RGB, and after that it's svhs cables, but anything lower than component cables is affecting quality

in saying that, the alladin dvd was shot on SD video cameras and released in non anamorphic widescreen, so the PQ is pretty crap as a result

thanks for the tips - as a matter of fact i was using the component cables, but for some silly reason I called them composite cables.

it sux that the dvd was released in such a shitty quality...can't really enjoy it on the big screen...ow well, prince can be weird like that

unkleg

I think this was actually shot on DV and then suffered from poor compression when in was mastered to DVD.

I couldn't believe that when he decided to finally put out some live material he opted for such an amateur production. To the untrained eye/ear I wouldn't say this was the same artist who made Sign o' the Times.

I think the Alladin DVD was his experiment to appease the people who decried the SOTT concert film as fake, staged, and too "pro" as well as people critiquing his usual overdubbed, polished, "live" release tracks.

It was raw and rough and real. And just about the performances. No props, seques, etc.

right?

That doesn't justify the poor picture quality.
And if it should be real, why all the editing and not showing the full show?
