Still... i'm glad he's releasing singles and trying to promote this record, because I think it's the strongest project overall he's done since the Come/TGE era. I don't think this is true. Prince's RnB crowd has always expected and enjoyed ballads or "slow jams" from him. He's delivered them since well before TMBGITW. Maybe the pop/rock world caught on to that one along with PR and D&P, but the RnB world has been down with his ballads since "Do Me Baby." I have always heard P's ballads on RnB radio. So, releasing a ballad to RnB doesn't seem like an attempt to recreate the success of TMBGITW. ----- Of course it is not true so many people on this board no nothing about RnB music or audiences. They don't realize how the ballads from Musicolgy got a lot of play on RnB stations. They are simply ingnorant to what goes on in the RnB world.

It think it should do pretty well on Urban AC, but a televised performance would help; especially given that the album has been around for a couple of months now. Maybe something on Leno like he did with SHOE.

[Edited 8/21/09 7:11am] You're right. As he's said in the past, the RnB stations have his back moreso than the pop/rock stations. BWT should get airplay on those stations. However, I am a bit surprised that this is the single that was chosen for this format instead of U're Gonna C Me. I could see the local RnB station here wearing that one out like they did FBM. I wasn't complaining though. My 43-year-old brother, who isn't really a Prince fan (he likes him but doesn't know his music beyond what I play) heard U're Gonna C Me, went and bought it, then put it on a Quiet Storm CD that he made. He said it was a jam and that when he played it for folks at work they loved it. A young girl even asked him who that was singing because she liked the song and asked for a copy. He told her she wasn't getting anything because she should be ashamed for not knowing Prince's voice. BWT is a beautiful ballad and I think it will do well on RnB stations. If it gets constant airplay, it will eventually grow on the listeners, especially younger listeners. I have to agree with you that RnB stations love playing Prince's slow ballads, like "Adore" and others that will always be a classic. Love his falsetto voice, because it always sounds like it captures his emotions. Matter of fact, 98.7kissfm in NYC had "Adore" on their playlist this weekend. This remake of "U're Gonna C Me" , does have more of a RnB flavor and has a Smokey Robinson vibe for sure. [Edited 8/25/09 17:26pm]

Don't u mean another Grammy Award win? Call My Name & Future Baby Mama both won Grammy Awards! Song of the Heart won a Golden Globe Award! ...and Future Baby Mama wasn't even a single! When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Absolutely, R&B/Adult R&B has always been his strong base since "Soft & Wet" dropped. It just so happened that he could play rock guitar and during the "golden period" (1980 - 1994), he was all over the charts rock, pop, r&b, & dance. Back 2 the aforementioned statement, "Call My Name" did go #1 on the Urban AC charts and did well on the R&B/Hip-Hop charts too. There's always luv 4 P on those formats so it would b foolish not 2 frequent them.

He started off on black radio before pop radio would even want 2 b bothered with him. I remember because I followed his career from way back then. Way b4 Purple Rain when a lot of people jumped on the band wagon and started pretending they were so loyal to him all his career. Now when he gets a R&b ballad played on black format urban stations most peeps on here. Have no idea whats going on. Prince's most played recent songs now on the radio r on urban stations and they r ballads. Plus he has two Grammy's to prove it. Both won from his R&b ballads "Call my name" & the beautiful BALLAD "Future baby mama". So there u have it... will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.

I hope that I hear this cut on the radio today cause it was really great to hear it on the Tom Joyner Morning Show right after they played the new Whitney Houston. It is a great ballad and those are what are sustaining Prince right now cause pop radio is not showing any love. Ryan Seaquest or whatever his name is definitely won't be playing it. I like to hear some Prince on there so maybe we should make requests on his show.

Cyndi Lauper has gone on record to say she disagreed with her record label about the direction her music was going and it is obvious she has suffered for it. In addition, she managed to keep her clothes on. Pan Benatar was on Behind the Music talking about the way she was mishandled by her record label and she kept her clothes on. Do you think Madonna has ever challenged her record companies? This chick goes along to get along all day and god knows she only recently decided to keep her clothes on. I don't think all white artist have a special advantage because if that were the case Teena Marie would be a bigger artist than half-naked, can't carry a fucking note for shit Madonna.
