Dez acknowledges in his book, A Retrospective 1982-87' that he Prince recorded the song together (although he does not identify who plays which instruments).
ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

Yep...P came up with the title "Modernaire" but Dez wrote the lyrics. The music sounds definately like a Prince production although Dez very well could be playing guitar. I could see where P would want Dez on guitar since it was a track for him. Dez was good at emulating P's playing all the while Dez was in the band. Especially P's riff oriented rhythms and chords. Not saying that Dez was a better rhythm player, especially on funk , BUT again, Dez was very good at playing any parts that P would come up with. Dez also played keyboards so he could have very well came up with that keyboard riff. When cats play and record together as much as Dez and P did, sometimes shit bleeds over onto each other's playing.Like people would just assume that P is doing the entire track of Vanity 6's 3x2=6. But Dez is actually playing the drums on that track. I'm not talking about He's So Dull, a track Dez wrote and played guitar and drums on. But 3x2=6. So, just using that as an example, Dez easily could be on tracks on the song "Modernaire".
