Well worth getting, I listen to it a lot. A lot of the material is alternate mixes to what are on the albums. It's all sequenced together and mixed very well, with each disc flowing pretty seamlessly from song to song. RIP

Gold COMMENT This is not music, this is a trip! Not strictly an outtakes set as it contains released material mixed with remixes, outtakes, alternate versions, and a little live. Not a remix set, not an outtake set, and not a collection of released material. I'll tell you what we'll classify this as : the best bootleg of 2005, bitches. The majority of material contained on here spans the 1993-1995 era, although it contains a smattering from a few other era's. The tracks flow together seamlessly and flawlessly and the result is one of the finest releases you'll ever hear. Each disc runs at 70 minutes, and I really cannot conceive anyone finding fault throughout the entire duration of this - it's continuous sequence of tracks is perfection....and then some. The above tracklisting is really more of an overview as almost every track has been edited and pulled apart to include either a portion from an alternate version, a remix, orn alternate remixeach track Miof material bd. I often praise releases, and admittedly they may not be to everyone's tastes, but this to create a continuous collection of Prince at his funkiestAll mixed flawlessly together to create a continuousthere are obvious exceptions (with a little culled formas the majority of tracks here are very Where to begin with this release? An excellent collection of material from the 1993-1995 period. The person responsible has successfully managed to edit together released material flawlessly with alternate versions/outtakes with amazing results. I believe there are 1 or 2 versions of this set circulating, however the final configuration should include the alternate 'Outtakes 1993-1994' tracks, and clock in at around 70 minutes per disc (give or take a couple of seconds). Disc 1 contains probably the finest moment on the entire set with 'Days Of Wild'. The heavy guitar solo (originally released on NPGMC Ahdio Show February 2001) has been added to the Crystal Ball version of D.O.W - it really has to be heard to be appreciated. Pussy Control is a funky remix containing both the 'Control Tempo' and 'House Mix' versions. Peach segues into Chaos & Disorder and is very similar to the live versions played at the time. 'Acknowledge Me' has been mixed in with 'The Good Life' (Big City Remix) superbly, and 'The Ride' is a combination of 'The Undertaker' version and the released 'Crystal Ball' track. TheDataBank.org does not recommend or endorse bootleg releases, however if I did - I would give this the thumbs up.....but I can't. It's hard not to be amazed by the sheer quality of the material and the professionalism of the editing - a truly excellent fan release. ©TheDataBank This set is available in lossless Flac - Free. On the cassette it says in regards to the track "Welcome 2 The Dawn - Acoustic Version" - Taken from the 4thcoming album The Dawn. We all know that this track ended up on The Truth. But the title for an album The Dawn was obviously kicked around by Prince. Though, the tracks on this bootleg are in no way related to a Prince configuration of an album called The Dawn. Prince has had an album called "The Dawn" in the works for donkey's years
on and off. At least 3 incarnations are known (and there were probably more). The first was back in 1986, when several tracks were recorded for the project like "When The Dawn Of The Morning Comes", "Crucial" and "Coco Boys". The Dawn was also mentioned as a film project as well as an album and this idea actually surfaced again in 1989 too, eventually merging with/getting replaced by Graffiti Bridge. The idea of an album called "The Dawn" appeared again around 1994, this time rumored to be a triple album. It was going to consist of tracks that would eventually get officially released on Come and The Gold Experience (it was for this project that all the NPG operator segues were recorded for). Though, being caught up in the name change and fight with WB, the ideas for this version came and went and changed several times (it was also mentioned to be the collective name for a series of 7 track "experience" mini-albums too). The idea for releasing a triple album called The Dawn was shelved when it became apparent that this couldn't be done free of WB at that time. Though when Prince did release his first post-WB album, it was no coincidence that it was still a triple album (even though the title had changed). The idea then appeared again in 1996, only this time it even got officially mentioned by Prince as being the follow-up to Emancipation. So it certainly looked like this incarnation of the project was probably virtually finished before being shelved again. "The Dawn" continues to be a project that Prince works on even now, but I doubt that he will release an album with that title until he's happy that it's contents are absolutely stellar and will be viewed as his best ever album and crowning achievement (a tall order for any album to fulfill). . "The Dawn" continues to be a project that Prince works on even now, but I doubt that he will release an album with that title until he's happy that it's contents are absolutely stellar and will be viewed as his best ever album and crowning achievement (a tall order for any album to fulfill). . [Edited 8/20/09 1:32am] and by that point, he'll have put out so many sub-par albums made up of stuff that's not good enough to get onto the next opus that nobody will even care.

Great info, as always. Well, at least we know what album The Divine will end up on. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.
