Prince must not be happy when he only made $8 million and Paul raked in over $100 million.

Also, did you notice that only 3 groups had higher ticket prices and one of them was for the Elton John/ Bill Joel tour where you got two concerts. Simply said Prince charges WAY too much money.

There's all kinds of interesting tidbits in this list. McCartney grossed over $100 million on 53 shows. Prince grossed $7.9 million on 37 shows.

What's really wierd is that a band with as much airplay as Nickelback played 78 shows and only grossed $5.5 million.

In his defence he did play much smaller and intimate venues.

I wonder if these figures include the tickets that he sold directly to NPGMC members through his site, avoiding ticketing fees and other costs.

Prince fans got to see him in venues with average size of 2,923 with an average ticket price of $82.27

McCartney fans were in arenas averaging 18,492 with an average ticket at $129.92

I know where I would rather be and who gave best value for money (regardless of the music/artist involved!)
'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.

Nickelback plays smaller venues and obviously can not charge their fans as much as i.e. Prince or Paul McCartney can...that's it!

Pure money making top 100. Where is the accompanying yea they made 60 mil but the show was shit top 100. Still 8 mil isn't bad for someone who gets zero airplay and largely bad press!

Are the fanatics gonna write a letter to this publication as well for putting Prince in a bad light compared to other artists?

How dare they!

But then again Yes made the same amount of money and I honestly didn't know they were alive.

Yes grossed $7.8 million on 51 shows, while Prince grossed $7.9 million on 37 shows. So Prince's earnings are higher than Yes's.

Another interesting tidbit: Cher is the hardest working person in show business! She grossed $73 million on 93 shows.

It looks like the 93 shows Cher did is the highest number of shows of anybody else on the Pollstar list.

The American Idol "live" tour grossed $8.1 million on 30 shows. People actually paid money to see the American Idol contestants? I guess that's alot like the folks who paid to see "The Kids From Fame" live in the '80s lol

Who the f*** is Paul McCartney anyway?

The ranking goes only for money, right?
4 me personally there is one fact: HE is the best performer on the planet and I don't care about what ranking lists say. They are created by record companies and media anyway. Looks the same as somebody saying MJ is THE Artist of the Millenium. disbelief What has he done to get that reward? Only 2 good albums in 20 years...
Forget about ranking list, follow your instinct... fro music

He also did the 'frog song', thus destroying all his credibility in a few sickening minutes.

Mc Cartney just trades on the Beatles.

I cant believe what Im reading about paul mccartney. Sure he's no prince, but in a different style he's a phenomenal artist. His gift of melody is bettered by nobody, and anyone who has heard Maybe Im Amazed (one of the greatest, love songs of all time) will agree that his post Beatkes work was still of great worth.

Sure he's embarassing at times (frog song, Pipes of Peace etc.), but at others he's truly breathtaking. So what if he still trades on the Beatles, I think he's entitled to. He did compose half of the greatest song collection in modern popular music and he is as much, if not more, of an influential artist as Prince has been.

what's wrong with 'frog song'??? a man like paul mccartney doesn't have to be serious all the time, does he?
don't need no reefer, don't need cocaine
purple music does the same to my brain
