This cd really has some good songs like When U Love Somebody, Until Ur In My Arms Again, Come On and The One that seem to get over looked all the time-it's a nice cd. Any love out there? lol

Another 90's 'prince' album (pedantics aside ppl), which aged horribly IMHO.
"Until You're In My arms Again" is a moving song though and "The One" is just awesome, Thank U Rhonda...

Tried many flavours - but sooner or later, always go back to the Purple Kool-aid!

It's not a bad CD. I think if the drums were live throughout, it would have been SO SO SO much better. Prince told Mel B that it was the wildest CD he's done for a while, and it was a vibe from the band itself. Well, too bad for that, because the band vibe sucked. The songs themselves aren't bad, but Kirk's drum programming and the dry production leaves it flat a bit. There was just room for improvement, and in the realm of the three NPG albums, it'd rank 2nd for me. Tony M is shit on Goldnigga. Exodus is a stand out album. I groove to that title track forever. And the live NPGMC release of "Return of the Bump Squad" is off the hook. I still like the album version though.

It's the "Controversy" of the 1990s...

Mostly fantastic songs; A few clunkers; No real theme or overall concept; Just a good collection of party songs and ballads.

His best of the 1990s.

Sorry but there are better albums to waste threads on. This one is dreadful from the music to the artwork, and the better songs are more C grade rather than A grade, most of its dull, just sex and dancing. Theres no dreamer, or gold or any of the eclectic references that made Symbol so exciting.
So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

Honestly I think it's better than it's given credit for.

I think at the time, it was just at the tail end of a lot of backlash. People hated C&D, Emancipation was a let down, the whole Crystal Ball was a mess, the website, Larry, etc, etc. And then comes NPS, which sounds a lot like Emancipation, the production of which was many peoples main gripe. And it was kinda lacklustre, unimaginative themes and lyrics, recycled stuff.

Only a couple of clunkers really, with some fun tracks and nice ballads.

The One, Until Ur In My Arms Again and Wasted Kisses are EXCELLENT IMO, nothing else was memorable to me at ALL. i'll have to go back and check out stuff like Come On, but the rest sounded like loose JB funk sessions with god awful lyrics made up on the spot and i have a high tolerance for the stuff people often call "filler

It took me a LONG time to get into this CD. When it came out I listened to it once and it then got buried not to be heard from again for awhile. But I took it out one day a couple years later, put it on my ipod to have some new running music...listened during a run...and I finally dug it. No...its no way NEAR as good as most of his stuff. But its also not as bad as people say. I love the title track and shoo-be-doo gets STUCK in my head for days.

Imagine the album but played with Michael B, Sonny T & Tommy B.

It's not the shit-fest that it gets credit for. It's lite funk. As an album, it's very consistent, despite using the Emancipation template.

Newpower Soul - Nice breezy melody
Mad Sex - The song "Mad" should have replaced this
Until U're In My Arms Again - Different take on the "Prince" ballad
When U Love Somebody - I like it
Shoo-Bed-Ooh - Not so much
Push It Up - Good
Freaks on This Side - S'OK
Come On - Best track on here (the remixes are great too)
The One - Very good
(I Like) Funky Music - Not great, but not out of place
Wasted Kisses - Wonderful
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Come On, Mad Sex, The One, Wasted Kisses, Shoo-Bed-Ooh all are fantastic tracks. A lot of my friends(not Prince fans) liked Shoo-Bed-Ooh.

The CD single for Come On also rocked!
When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!
