Wow.
but how could she cover the song without his consent.

Isn't that one of the beefs Prince had with Warner. Songs are for sale for a small fee to use by other artists when dealt through the recordcompany?

You don't need consent to cover a song - unless you change the lyrics or musical arrangement. I have no idea how much of a change constitutes a rearrangement of a song.

I think that at the time of the spat, Fargnoli was Prince's former manager.

It seems odd that they'd come to blows over swearing. I mean, in the early Nineties, Prince was still singing stuff like Sexy M.F.

it is probably true, and pretty funny coming from the: "sexy mf", but as long as you can compartmentalise it.

she was probably the first to stand-up to him, and i can't imagine he likes that much

Yeah, you don't need anyone's permission to cover a song.

and Sinead's version is better anyways.

Regardless of what happened between them, Sinead was fucked in the head. Ripping up a picture of the Pope on SNL? Saying "Nothing Compares..." was the reason for all her problems? What a jackass. I remember when Sinatra said he'd punch her in the face -or something like that- if he ever met her. I hope she got some help.

She was protesting the sexual abuse going on Catholic churches. She ripped the Pope's picture because he wasn't doing or saying anything about it.

and i personanlly think her version of Nothing Compares is superior shrug

To tell you the truth I don't care about the Pope at all. He probably deserved it. He has done other crimes too, like blessing weapons for the war and preventing people from using condoms putting their life in danger.

But being such a bitch to Prince??? eek That's a definite NO-NO!

And yes, her version of Nothing Compares 2 U is simply DIVINE!

Conjecture..speculation.

He can also pack a verbal punch...
So Show me again where it states "Prince punched Sinead O' Conor..."

It doesn't.

wait you're really debating the meaning of: "He can pack a punch. A few blows were exchanged."

blows means punches, and then she actually said punch. She could be lying, but she is saying he hit her or rather, that article is saying she said that.

For example if someone says "the fight came to blows", they mean it got physical.

I know some of you never passed the third grade...so read this again.

" he got very upset and became quite threatening, physically"

"HE BECAME quite threatening"
"HE BECAME quite threatening"
"HE BECAME quite threatening"
"HE BECAME quite threatening"
"HE BECAME quite threatening"
"HE BECAME quite threatening"
"HE BECAME quite threatening"
"HE BECAME quite threatening"
"HE BECAME quite threatening"
"HE BECAME quite threatening"

NEVER DID PRINCE HIT SINEAD O'CONOR PERIOD.

Well if people did everything the pope says they wouldn't be having extramarital sex, and thus there would also be a lot less aids without condoms.
I mean OK, he's a prick and all and actholicism sucks but some criticism is just stupid, and catholics aren't that stupid.

However gobby she is I dont think she is lying-even she wouldnt make up a story like that. This was as stated here a reaction to her public image, particularly the Pope incident. Prince I would imagine be very anti the Pope being brought up Seven Day Adventist but even he would know she was wrong to do this. You dont change things by being blatantly aggressive. Sinead O'Connor was enjoying her militant stance, she was no Joan of Arc. She came across as a teenager who thinks her parents are stupid. I dont know why Prince cared
