You don't need consent to cover a song - unless you change the lyrics or musical arrangement. I have no idea how much of a change constitutes a rearrangement of a song.
I think that at the time of the spat, Fargnoli was Prince's former manager. It seems odd that they'd come to blows over swearing. I mean, in the early Nineties, Prince was still singing stuff like Sexy M.F. | |

However gobby she is I dont think she is lying-even she wouldnt make up a story like that. This was as stated here a reaction to her public image, particularly the Pope incident. Prince I would imagine be very anti the Pope being brought up Seven Day Adventist but even he would know she was wrong to do this. You dont change things by being blatantly aggressive. Sinead O'Connor was enjoying her militant stance, she was no Joan of Arc. She came across as a teenager who thinks her parents are stupid. I dont know why Prince cared | |
