I am none too thrilled that P is a JW but at the end of the day, the man made up his own mind. How in the fuck would you feel if someone tried to tell you what you could or could not do? Why do this rest of us get to do what we want and not him? | |

NO. WE don't need to make any intervention.
What we really need is to cool down and learn to accept the fact that other people (even our idols) are not puppets and we cannot pull their strings to match our preferences. We should at least RESPECT their choices of life. Also, when we feel the urge to talk some sense into him, or give him directions or whatever, we should always remember that he DIDN'T become who he is on OUR advice, but on HIS OWN devices. He knows BETTER! I am but mad north-northwest

I think it's kind of cool that he doesn't curse anymore. Although, his advertising it on stage was a bit eye rolling.
I don't even mind all too much (anymore) the fact that he changes lyrics of classic songs when performing them live. I mean, he swaps lyrics around of songs that don't have cursing on them--nobody whines about that. But what I don't like the idea of is him tinkering with vault material. I would hope that when it is finally released the only polishing done is in the mastering/mixing of it. I'd prefer getting a sense of what he was like when he originally recorded it then something that was tampered with many years later. To me, songs have a life of their own and when you tinker with something, you change the way it feels. 1999-The New Master , even minus the awful remixes of it, was bound to feel different from the original. Of course, my weariness of his tampering with the older material has fuckall to do with his cursing though, and more to do with just preserving the history of his musical evolution. . Many painters have painted new paintings over the old ones. It happens and they can do as they please. They don't OWE their works to the public you know! After this last Lotusflow3r CD....there's nothing left material wise. Think about it...Targets will never hype his next CD And No radio station will even play his stuff anymore...the internet well is dry. No one will fall for the membership signup a 3rd time. Prince will only be left playing at Kingdom Halls from city to city. Sorry he can't shock us anymore...I am never wrong. | |
