Well a lot of people into hip-hop think Jay-Z was the "gay rapper" that was alluded too from someone in the industry who was interviewed in a hip-hop magazine. "Climb in my fur."

I was not aware of this. I got the new Jay-Z album. If you think Emancipation has filler on it, this double disc could have been whittled down to a single song, and not even the one released as a single. It should have been the watcher II.
He should get royalties from it. I don't know why Prince isn't more liberal with others' use of his samples. He could donate any procedes from those samples to charity if he doesn't want to prosper from the negativity it usually entails himself. Is it really that hard to write an original song without having to steal from a true artist with real talent? All these hip hop acts who steal from Prince need to be shot. ![]() Proud member of Prince's cult for 20 years! ![]()

I thought it was cool. The closest Prince will come to being heard on the radio and it might hip some young person to go pick up Sign o the times that has never heard it. ---------------------------------

Yeah, but will anyone know that song included a line from a Prince song? Let alone what the title is and what album it's from.

Well put. I think we've all come to understand that the only Prince we are ever going to hear on the radio is from his back catalogue stuff. I can't see any radio station playing asong that has ties to Jesus--unless ofcourse it's a church or gospel station -phunk Whatever it is, it´s got to be PHUNKy!!!

~~~ I totally agree with you there. Todays music is mostly about rap and everything, or boy bands. I have nothing bad to say about that, just that I wish that they would find more groups thta don't sound lie the other one. lol I wish that people would make their own music. But copying off of prince isn't bad either. Dreaming permits each and every one of us to be quietly and safely insane every night of our lives.
Not sure, but I'm told that Prince receives a song writing credit for that song, and it is very likely that the credis will list what song is sampled/interpolated/orwhatever the hell rappers are calling their "borrowings" these days. If I really like a track, the first thing I look to is to see what its from and search out the original. I would guess that there are a few like me who do that as well. Or maybe I'm strange like that. Or maybe I'm strange like that. I do that all the time too because I'm like, "OK, this groove seems too nice to NOT have been sampled from some good, old school music." LOL! As much as people may sample or whatever from Prince, or this song in particular, NOTHING beats the original. No one can come up with something as funky as this beat. And no one can even dream of touching the live version (well, the one from the SOTT movie)!
