Prince Killed Michael Jackson

oh boy. I know that title got some attention.

I'll tell you how. Of course not directly. I was watching some news report about Mike about 2 weeks ago. There was some well dressed guy who obviously was in charge of Mike's affairs in some capacity speaking on how it was dealing with Michael in his last days. He said Michael would get hysterical and wouldn't sleep saying "the ideas keep coming" The he had to hurry up and use them or else "he" is going to give them to someone else. And the guy was like mocking Mike's quote by saying "Can't you make an agreement with your God to hold off on the ideas so you can get some sleep?" or something like that. forgive me yall it's been 2 weeks.

Ok then there is this lady that they interview who was Mike's business assistant or someone like that. And she repeated the same thing. How frantic mike was about getting his ideas down for the tour and putting things into motion and about how he didn't want to sleep with his ideas in him because and she quoted "he will give them to someone else...He will give them to Prince" thats a direct quote from that lady quoting michael jackson.

So inadvertently Michael Jackson's obsessive competition with Prince is what drove him to his own demise. This is how that interview made it sound.

My question is how on earth do you compete with someone who comes out with an album like twice a year and you come out with an album once a presidency?

Yeah, this came out in the Rolling Stone article about MJ's last days. Frank DiLeo and another person close to Michael said he wanted to beat Prnce's record of 21 concerts and there was a mention of that quote about God giving his ideas to Prince.

I think MJ had a lot of respect for Prince, but I also think he suffered from megalomania and lost his grip on reality. And, then there's the drugs and stuff....So I don't take this talk too seriously. However, I would give anything to see Prince's face when this came out in the news. I saw Anderson Cooper talk about MJ's "one-way rivalry" with Prince and I just about choked on whatever I was eating at the time. It's all a compliment to Prince, no matter how you slice it.

And, yet, others have said that this is how MJ was coerced in to agreeing to play 50 concerts - "You'll beat Prince's record".....clearly playing on the "one-way rivalry" to get him to agree.

But, I guess we'll never know.....

Many things made up the complexity of MJ and trying to attribute his demise to a singular point would be incorrect.

our boy was competing too, the only difference is he had a firm grip on reality having grown to at least the age of 18 out of the spotlight.

Outside of the mind of deluded Prince fans, I really don't believe MJ ever felt threatened or as if he had to compete with Prince in any way.

For what it's worth, it's widely reported that MJ never actually agreed to do the 50 shows in London, making the story of him wanting to top Prince's 21 nights null and void. He only agreed to ten apparently.

I know these are going to be moved to another thread however I dont get why MJ would even think like this. Trust me I'm not saying that coz I think he is better than Prince but I sure as hell think MJ thought he was. One of the reasons I never particularly liked MJ is because I always thought the cutsey image masked an absolute egomaniac. Secondly if MJ was so aware of Prince to be competition-he would surely know that there is nothing Prince would use that would stem from MJ's world. Prince doesn't do Disney. The only thing I can think of is that MJ had far more discerning taste than I ever gave him credit. Who would ever think that someone that can hang out with liz taylor/Uri Geller and Oliver Twist could have such remarkable music knowledge. I feel really nasty now!

there was a time when the "competition" between the 2 of them was healthy...it lead to some of the best music during the 80's.

i also loved the way that Prince did a few MJ songs during the Tamar time-period, and think that was a really positive gesture.

Prince did "don't stop till u get enough"

It was almost as if he was saying to Michael, "come on, now...there's work to be done, enjoy yourself"

Actually it was taken in the Michael Jackson Suite in the Disneyland Hotel. Was the hotel's decorations, where people could experience the "magic" of Michael Jackson as I recall, lol.

Is this along the lines of 'Tom Jones killed Elvis Presley'? In that Tom's success in Vegas prompted Elvis and his management to make moves to set up a residency.

I'm of the same school of thought as John Lennon - 'Elvis died when he joined the army'. Before the army he was rebellion. After the army he was bubblegum.

With that in mind, for me - a BIG Michael Jackson fan of over 25+ years, Michael was killed in 1993 when those original allegations were levelled at him. He was never the same after that.
