I have a friend who is 20 and has heard and liked most of the big pop songs from Prince.

He is a singer who fronts a pop/punk band who do a lot of cover interpretations.

will you help me make a playlist for him - a retrospective of Prince's career including songs his band could cover or enjoy listening to?

Some bands that I know he likes would be - The Used, Fallout Boy and then some Justin Timberlake thrown in (I know....but he is young!)

He appreciates good vocal ability and more guitar/rock driven songs - but then you get that pop sound mixed in - well written tunes that a real musician would appreciate as art. We work together and I play a lot of P - but only ever 'clean' popular stuff - as my bosses would not like anything with cursing

If he's into pop-punk, then maybe play the LP triple threat Dirty Mind, Controversy and 1999, in that order. Throw in the Vanity 6 album too.
