It's weird that an artist who has been "struggling for artistic freedom, fighting with his record company to own his own recordings and being able to release the music he wants" is seen as a conformist, but I guess it's all in how you view it. As far as I'm concerned he's a grown-ass man, so he can believe whatever the fuck he wants. If those views ever get to a point where they offend me beyond my ability to enjoy the music, then I'll move on. Although there is something to be had from listening to views you disagree with, in music and on the org. my [Edited 8/19/09 16:17pm] "What kind of fuck ending is that?"

And as we all know, Prince isnt very good at standing his ground. He has always buckled under pressure. Tell him to jump, and says "How high?" Prince was no match for Tipper. So over 2 decades later he throws in the towel. It was ALL about tipper. (SARCASM) She got her way though didn't she? Damn dude you are off your rocker more than the ones you claim the so called syncophants are. Tipper got her way? No. How do you figure she did? Its not like in 1985 Prince decided to stop cussing on wax right after the big profane music controversy. You have a case of living vicariously too much and now that he went a different direction it bothers you. I thought you were this suposed free spirit lol. Supa mad....real mad

Supa mad....real mad I'm not even close to mad. you'll know it when I am Bottom line, Prince is the a conformist and didn't cause the death of Prince, Prince becoming Prince again did. Once he won that "fight" and reclaimed his name, there was nothing left for him to stand for. Prince is a genius so I know he has it in him to bring some real shit but he's much happier now bowing at the throne of conformity than doing anything worthwhile. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

This is not just trolling - This person is not just poking people for fun - This person has an openly stated objective of getting people on a fan website to stop being fans!! Maturing with age is not becoming a liar. It is natural and worthwhile. I have more respect for a person maturing beautifully like Sally Field than those who pretend they are not like Joan Rivers. Changing words to your own songs is not becoming a conformist liar. Just the opposite - pretending to be a 20 year old when you in your 50s to please others is a conformist lie. Prince didn't find religion and then become a conformist liar. If you knew his work, you would know that he and his work has always been influenced by his deep faith - and even in his youthful, sexual hey day he struggled with this. Whilst I am not a fan of JW, I recognised that he has grown in his faith as he matured. Despite a word or a phrase changed here or there, his struggle continues. Prince, and everyone of us, are far more complex than our ability to swear in exactly the same as we did a decade or more ago.
