Do you think UTCM & GB Movies will ever come out on Blu-Ray? Do you think UTCM & Graffiti Bridge Movies will ever come out on Blu-Ray? Is DVD enough resolution? I really think it makes Purple Rain a better experience. Sure better job with cleaning up the film would have been nice, but it looks sweet! There are details in the BR version of Purple Rain I had never seen before...
I have seen Purple Rain at the movies (they ran all 3 at my cinema in 90 when GB came out..) and I don't remember that detail and the picture being so crisp.. I would love to see Prince and the Revolution LIVE (Syracuse 85) and Lovesexy Dortmund also released on Blu Ray.. Is there anyone we can petition to make that happen? Who owns the rights to those nowadays? They were re released on Laserdisc, why not on Blu Ray. I LOVE home theatre and Blu Ray really makes it better... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I noticed details on the 20th ann. edition of PR that I had never seen before. I could never see Prince's eyes at the beginning of "let's go crazy", but I totally saw them the next time around. I was thrilled. I have the Blu-Ray, but no Blu-Ray player.....YET. I think UTCM and GB stand a chance at Blu-Ray somewhere down the line. They're putting so much on Blu-Ray, it's probably only a matter of time. But who knows.

I would much rather see Sign O The Times, Lovesexy, Prince And The Revolution Live, The Undertaker and Prince's promo videos on Blu-ray before Graffiti Bridge and Under The Cherry Moon. Right now Blu-ray software titles are way over-priced in the marketplace. Hell, I was in FYE the other day and their used Blu-ray discs were $25-$35. I'm afraid that without the studios and retailers dropping prices - incredible as hi-def is, the format may die on the vine. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I agree with you on all those but I think its unlikely to happen since they weren't filmed on film or 35mm to begin with. OK, maybe SOTT was, so SOTT is a Blu-Ray contender too.. Graffiti Bridge and UTCM had theatrical releases so they have the resolution to be able to support BR.. I would love to see Lovesexy, Prince & Revolution Live also.. Not so keen on Undertaker or promo videos. Again no promo videos were shot on film so I don't think there's much point unless someone was to reconstruct them all and REZ them up to a higher resolution, but even then, if the original footage was low res, not alot you can do.. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

If the market follows the growth of DVD, I don't see why not eventually.
Of course, by that time, the next format/service will be ready to roll, and you'll be making a thread asking if they're gonna be released on interactive 3D holo-video.

Yeah, the video sourced stuff wouldn't be a big leap up from DVD, but most of the stuff I mentioned never got released on DVD at all, so logic would dictate that it be issued on the most current format which is BD. Of course, much of it would be at the 4:3 ratio, too. The main benefit for this video sourced material making it's way to Blu-ray would be the multiple sound options, including uncompressed audio. Right.. I think its also got to be an ownership/licensing problem. I mean weren't some of them independent distributors? Like Lovesexy? I hope you are right though! Is anybody in the position to be able to make this happen? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

i'm not sure i wanna see those movies in any better quality, it would only enhance how horrible they are. I'd rather see SOTT in Blue Ray, or hopefully the new Montreux DVD.

I could defintely live without GB in HD but I love UTCM and I would be up for that on BR. But OF COURSE I would prefer a concert, whether it be SOTT, Lovesexy or Prince & Rev Live. Any or all of those in HD would rock. SOTT is the only one short in 16:9 Widescreen for HD resolutions and on film. It would kind of suck with Lovessexy and Prince and Rev Live 85 both being PAN & SCAN 4:3 aspect ratio, and from a video source, but I would still go there.. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
