Yes. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Absolutely not.
Stephen Dundermonk is the only person suited to manage Prince. Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

He was Managed by Frank around the "D&P/ 0(+>" era. He actually didn't listen to Franks advice against releasing the "0(+>" album when he did. Frank wanted to do more promotion for the D&P album. Judging by the horrible album sales of the 0(+> album....he should have listened!

Yikes!
So the reason Prince was dumbing down his music in the 90's was not drug abuse, but because he was chasing the kiddie pop money ala MJ and his monkey? Trouble was MJ and Madonna had an honest pulse and affection for crass commercialism, Prince doesn’t. Prince’s attempts at rap says it all. [Edited 8/8/09 22:24pm]

[Edited 8/8/09 22:24pm] Some of MJ's 'kiddie pop' really isn't what you think the lyrics are quite interesting to some of his work when you go back and listen and he didn't want to be crass but the top which is different, as for Madonna... lol - but back to P... I don't think he needs a manager - he is ok, well and did a successful stint at the O2 for 21 nights sold out... whereas others who are heavily managed.... Prince is wise, he makes mistakes but does what he wants to do and I don't think that should change IMO.

I think Steve Fargnoli was the perfect guy along with Cavallo and Ruffalo. "The first time I saw the cover of Dirty Mind in the early 80s I thought, 'Is this some drag queen ripping on Freddie Prinze?'" - Some guy on The Gear Page

I say the movie and soundtrack is going to be called 50 NIGHTS.....its been a while since Prince did a movie maybe now is a good time for Frank to get him a movie deal again from a major. Take a chance man...if your going to put out a 3 cd set might as well have a movie around it...maybe one of the discs could be produced by QJ...defintely would shoot on location in New Orleans....

I know prince probably has assistants but how does he manage without a manager? I mean how does he know where to line himself up-or promote. Where even do people know where to send invitations to

Prince has been very successful with and without traditional management for years now.
He wouldn't go for the traditional manager who says "C'mon Kid. Let's put on a show." By the same token the industry has changed so much and even though he has taken risks trying new things P has rolled with the changes well. If he did use a manager like Frank Dileo I think he would do the complete opposite of a 360 or "all in" deal where the manager gets a piece of everything earned during his tenure. (Sort of like an ex-wife.) He would pay him a flat rate and say "No publishing. No points from the record. No override." Maybe I'm off but we've seen the same 3cd set repeat itself with Emancipation and Target CD's...website existed before.....the same venue tour in Vegas and London..The facination is not with MJ, but having some managenent muscle behind him whether it be Frank D. or someone comparable to put together a mega deal like a movie/soundtrack/world tour. Otherwise lets just wait for the next 2 cd release with Associated Artist at Best Buy. Oh I hear the naysayers he allmost hit #1 with only a Best Buy release.Same ol story different page. Go back to MPLS, regroup, have a kid, and then really show them what you go. When its all said and done you don't really want to pass it on to your GUITAR. The Father becomes the son and the son becomes the Father. Heard it in Superman I thought it was a cool line.hehehehehhehehehehh!!Get a skipping SKIPPY.

mj's manager throughout the 80's No, that would be Frank Dileo. "Frank Dielo" however is what happens when a Prince fan can't manage to put five letters in the proper order or use Google first if he/she is unsure. © Bart Van Hemelen

Gee more mis-information. The Symbol CD did poorly because WB did not promote it after P decided to change his name to a symbol and started fighting with the company.
Somebody spent a shit load of money making dozens of videos so I think we can assume that they had big plans for that CD. ----- Bishop31 said: He was Managed by Frank around the "D&P/ 0(+>" era. Prince was one of the most respected artists by the late 80's early 90's. His music and name still made the headlines, he did not need the marketing of a Teeny-bopper kid acts. The music should have spoken for itself. People listened and didn’t like it. What kind of marketing can you do for stuff the people don’t dig? Stuff it down their throats? Prince did not have the pulse on what audiences wanted to listen to. Its that simple. To this day, nobody calls his 90's work "hidden gems" its known as crap to everyone but the hardcore faithful here on this site.

In business the end justifies the means. From a "human" and "moral" standpoint that might not be a great thing but in business that's how it is. (Sometimes.) You can't say the marketing did not work when they really did not do any marketing so the public really did not get to hear much of the CD. In addtion, as much as you guys go on about the 90's being so awful how come D&P sold 5 million copies. I will be the first to admit it is not the best CD but the public liked it and it was marketed well. In addtion, P received a lot of acclaim for the "Gold Experience" unfortunatly he was fighting and bad mouthing WB the whole time. I just don't see a record label supporting an artist that is bad mouthing the label.
