1999:The Movie

Wow!!!I would've love to see how this movie would've played out. How do you think the movie would've been.

Um, does your school assign a Summer Reading List?
reading geek

Your lies, they cut me.
Now your words don't mean a thing.
I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..."

I mean if u look at that time and the other releases like The Time and Vanity 6, u could have the prequel 2 Purple Rain. I mean the music of that era was GREAT. That tour was great as well.

Yeah, might've resulted in an interesting storyline with Vanity as his previous lover, and where the storyline of the The Revolution and The Time was more about them starting making music and maybe less about them being rivals,
until a final scene in the 1999-movie where the rival aspect is introduced as a cliffhanger for the upfollowing Purple Rain-flic.

I can imagine it now...P as a youngster rockin' a fro and crying as his parents yell in the kitchen...he starts to play the piano...years later he begins to form a small band, and meets some of his future proteges (give Wendy and Lisa early appearance - "You've felt this way with us before, remember!")...shit, why not throw in Vanity as a former lover...you could even have Morris and P fightin' over Vanity, which could explain the later rivalry....
Man, it's hard supporting a college education and a music collection. Better drop out of college!

considering all the videos for that album were shot on the same stage just sequence them and create a storyline.

1999
Little Red Corvette
Automatic
Let's Pretend We're Married

Am I missing any? I'm at work and a little distracted.

Considering his track record, odds are such a movie probably would have been horrible.
"What kind of fuck ending is that?"

Like this... cool

Nineteen Ninety Nine.

A lady cab driver parked her limousine curbside, outside of Club 1999.
At 11:50pm, A Royal International Lover, escaped the venue.
The driver popped the Automatic lock, and the lover hopped into the backseat.
All the critics in New York were dusted by the smooth getaway, as the D.M.S.R.,
License plate faded out of sight.
The Lady glanced into the rearview mirror and asked the Lover how he was.
“Delirious,” he told her. “Must be something in the water.”
The driver parked alongside of a little red corvette at the end of a dirt road.
Words were exchanged.
“The Fare?,” the lover glared.
“Free,” the driver stared.
“I’ve got to make the plane,” the lover said.
“Sir, Please, enjoy the flight in bed.”

the lover asks, "How Come U don't Call Me Anymore?"
He replies softly, "Restraining order."

It could have been great. It could have been set in the future, which was 1999 since the real year was 1982. It could have been like so many of us pictured the year 1999 to be which was very Jetsons with flying cars, vacationing on other planets, and futuristic sounding funk like the funk that was on the album. Unfortunately, the real year 1999 was nothing like we pictured. We still drove around in cars on the ground, no new planets were discovered that humans could breathe and live on, and fun fast party funk died and slow dull shit hop was everywhere.

Actually she takes him to a corvette where the International Lover would drive himself to his own flight. Let's just say I'm in this movie, because I wrote it...I am the writer, the director the co-star and the accountant. The end. cool

it did? thats cool although i have never seen it and probably wont ever c it. it was before my time. I saw this really bad 80s movie called Dirty dancing. that movie is stupid, then theres that kevin bacon and then theres GREASE which I kinda like only because its hilarious. My grandfather told me people actually use to dress and act like they do in that movie back in the 50s.

Ally Sheedy's character scrathes a snow fall of dandruff onto the paper photo insert sleeve of the album.

People did NOT dress like 'Grease' in the 50's, that was the 50's filtered through a 70's lense.

I dont think it would be as successful as Purple rain because PR is whiter in its sound but I've always thought the music from 1999 was more the music that would go with the grittiness of Purple Rain visually. It is a more down and dirty sound and the film has that vibe whilst the music is far too sophisticated for what the KID would get away with in a club
