Man... okay... take a deep breath... relax...

Okay... you point to a article... which contains Prince a couple of times... but where is the statement that he will or not will sign with Sony?

So... Not 'nuff said!

Do a good job! Release them with extras, how about Camden Lovesexy Aftershow as an extra or the extended version of rehearsal footage seen on the Omnibus special...Plus, all the Lovesexy/Black Album Videos, plus remastered AV and electronic Lovesexy tour Program...

Common, I should be a DVD extras producer...

SensualMelody

I'll take the "wait and see" attitude.

But whatever the case, Prince will never be a "slave" again.
So...how's everybody doing? smile

Isn't Universal part of Sony?
At least, some of the artist mention on the Universal Publishing website mentioned here are on Sony labels (eg, Annastasia is on Epic). So the possibility of prince signing a publishing deal with Universal and releasing DVD's with Sony is perfectly possible.

The last rumour said that Prince had signed the same deal with Universal. So this week it's Sony? Interesting. Wait, no. It's not interesting, actually...

Who can actually believe that Prince would sign a contract with SONY?? It's as likely as a collaboration with Christina Aguilera. Which is being released by Sony next week, as I recall reading.

lick

Actually, the rumour stemmed from the fact that Prince did sign a publishing deal with Universal. This was for publishing rights, not for recorded music, but that confused a whole lot of people. Sony and Universal are part of the same parent company, so it is possible.

As for the DVD releases, SOTT was NOT a Warner Bros film but, (you guessed it) a UNIVERSAL release (which is why all those petitions to WB were going nowhere, 'cuz they simply don't have the rights to that film). The Lovesexy 88 concert was released in Europe on (I believe) an indy label (it never had an official stateside release).

It is possible that Tommy Motolla has worked out a great deal to get Prince onto his label. He certainly has the money to get him, and it would certainly be a slap in the face to MJ, being that Prince is both a black artist, as well as an outspoken advocate for artist rights. It would, in essence, be his way of saying that MJ's claims were baseless. I think Prince would definitely ink a deal with Sony if Motolla promised him that he could keep his masters for future recordings, or that he was going to help Prince purchase his back catalogue from Warners. Motolla is a shrewd businessman, so I wouldn't put it past him. He would certainly be able to do a hell of a lot more than WB has with the catalogue in the last several years!

This is exactly what I was thinking Jedi...you worded it perfectly. I would be very happy if this turns out to be true. I have been dying to see the SOTT DVD for years and just to see the Lovesexy show again (outside of my fading memory from the concert 15 years ago). Tommy is a smart guy and Prince is a smart guy...they would make a good team. peace
