Can rights be bought from Record companies?
I mean... I gues the right for e.g. Sign 'o' the times are still from WB... how come Sony is releasing them? They must have bought them, right? _______________________________________________________________________________________

I just took "Lovesexy" the Bootleg video to work to show the teens I work with...since I not only work for Newpowerdetroit, but also work in counseling at a transitional living prgrm for 16- 20 yr.olds...and each monday I work w/ the Teens, their asking for something different from Prince, so I've brought in every video I own of Prince's and now were on Bootleg concerts...The Teens Love it and I was just thinking "Lovesexy" would be a great new concert on DVD.
I say new, because its never been released officially, except for Tv in Europe back in 1988. Many of us who love prince and wasn't able to attend a show back then or too young, would definitely buy this vintage concert stuff! So Prince should ink a deal to release these concerts to us...or even if he'd include it in the 2003 edition of NPGMC... ALL NPGMC MEMBERS WILL RECIEVE VINTAGE PRINCE MUSIC AND DVDS, FOR THIS YEARS CLUB! That would be so cool, but it was just cool to see that these kids from suburbia who have issues at home, could actually get into Old Prince and EVEN enjoy alot of the new stuff too, atleast their asking me for it all the time LOL So now they think PRINCE is cool! This would be a great opportunity for Prince! and I do believe Tony would work for him, but I'm not sure if this is true, considering he had that talk w/ Mariah about her deal and former relationship w/ sony her ex hubby's label! hmmm!

"video captions" ?
what exactly does that entail... videos? concerts? late-night jams? girls with too much makeup roaming around Paisley Park while everyone else stands outside in subzero weather? elaborate, please.

Most scenes were filmed in the Washington Avenue rehearsal warehouse. The roles were played by Wally Safford, Greg Brooks, Cat, Jill Jones, Miko Weaver, Eric Leeds, and Matt Fink's mother. "Hard Life" starts with an exterior scene, shot outside the Crosstown Circle office. Two "bums," played by Wally Safford and Greg Brooks are begging people for money. An older woman, played by Matt Fink's mother, refuses and gets into a fist-fight with the men, while Gillian Stoneheart, a rock star portrayed by Jill Jones, and her chauffer, Miko Weaver, look on. The two men end up in jail, with Eric Leeds as the jailer. Gillian shows up to bail them out, with the intention of using them as cheap servants at a dinner party that she is having. The next scene shows the party, complete with Cat and Prince's father, John L. Nelson, as two of the guests and the live unit of Madhouse providing live music entertainment. Just as the bums go into Gillian's room to steal her valuables, she shows up, apparently drunk, and seduces one of them. The final scene finds the two men back in jail, but moments later the jailer appears with a handful of money. After being bailed out once again by Gillian, the bums chant as they leave prison, "Crime doesn't pay, but horny rock stars do." The film uses tracks from Madhouse's "8" as the theme music, but it was never intended as an extended video clip or a promotional vehicle for the group. In fact, there was no practical use whatsoever for the film.

That might be what they were playing on the video screen during the "Gold Experience / Exodus" tour in Europe - really cheesy Madhouse video that looked a bit like a Benny Hill skit.

I would actually be glad to see Prince with Sony, movies or CD's. It would be great to see a DVD of Livesexy since I couldn't go to the show when it came to NYC. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Sony was rumored to be very close to reaching a deal with Prince in 1999,but Prince jumped at a chance to work with Clive Davis. We all know what happened after that.
I dont think that this is true because Warner Brothers wants Prince to suffer and will never release material to another company.

I dont think that this is true because Warner Brothers wants Prince to suffer and will never release material to another company. they don't need to. all they really own the rights to is a handful of stuff (the movies (though not SOTT)) the Purple Rain home video and most of the videos from the period. Prince owns everything else outright, or in conjunction with others (possibly the Lovesexy, Nude and SOTT films). [This message was edited Wed Dec 18 19:48:02 PST 2002 by AaronUnlimited]

The last rumour said that Prince had signed the same deal with Universal. So this week it's Sony? Interesting. Wait, no. It's not interesting, actually...
Who can actually believe that Prince would sign a contract with SONY?? It's as likely as a collaboration with Christina Aguilera. Which is being released by Sony next week, as I recall reading.
