As for official i wud put old and new. i wud make a hits cd also. Here it goes- Erotic City,Shes always in my Hair, electric chair, joy in repetition, one of us,dreamer, choc box, wasted kisses. As u can its hard to just make one disc of the best songs. Ur better off making a 10 cd set

If your friend at least knows the standard Prince hits then try these for starters

1 - Officials & B-Sides
She's Always In My Hair, La La La He He Hee, Beautiful Ones, Automatic, Bambi, Erotic City, 4 The Tears In Your Eyes, Willing & Able, Sexy MF, Letitgo, Come On, Crimson & Clover, heart or $, Under The Cherry Moon, Around The World In A Day, My Love Is Forever, Head.

2 - Outtakes
Soul Psychedelicide, Bliss, G-Spot, Love Machine, Baby Go-Go, Purple Music, Alphabet St. Blues, Baby U're A Trip, Teacher Teacher, We Can Funk, All My Dreams, Snowman, In A Large Room With No Light, Can I Play With U?, Do Yourself A Favor.

3 - Live Performances
Baby I'm A Star, Computer Blue, When Doves Cry(All from the Purple Rain Tour), When I Lay My Hands On U(Montreux), Housequake(SOTT tour), Dirty Mind, Controversy, Sexuality(All from Homecoming Show 1983), I Feel 4 U(1998 @ MSG w/Chaka Khan), Purple Rain, D.M.S.R.(both from 1983 First Avenue Show), Musicology(Club Black NYC 2004), Question Of U(Nude Tour Tokyo Show 1990).
When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Official: Stick to the B-sides and 12" mixes. Like a mix of Pop life is nice, or the longer version of "Alexa De Paris" or "Another Lonely Christmas". The remixes up to about 1990 were great. At least one B-side from the 90's I'd recommend is "Rock And Roll Is Alive (And It Lives In Minneapolis)".

Outtakes, stick with the 80's. There is some 90's stuff that's good though like "Love..Thy Will B Done". It's really whatever suits you.

Live...take one song from every era or concert tour you have, and mix them. Make it your own that way.

For live you must put "Just my imagination" on it.
Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

For B-Sides from the 90's I'd add: The Space Universal Love Remix and Violet The Organ Grinder. 80's: I Wish U heaven 1-2-3 and the extended remix of Pop Life (i.e the one from the UK 12''). Comeback and Don't Talk to Strangers are nice 90's additions

Love...Thy Will Be Done is of course THE essential 90's alternate but don't forget I Wonder either. From the 80's think about the alternate Elephants and Flowers.

Live is way too difficult I think. My personal favorite is still Forever In My Life from SOTT

^ I love Space acoustic too. Violet is a good one, indeed.

Agree on "Forever in My life" from SOTT movie.
