For some reason, It feels very dark to me. Its like there was a very depressed vibe that went into this album. The sound, the album cover...everything

Does that make it bad? Do you like it? Art covers many moods, expressions, tones, feelings.

My ideal version of Come would look something like this...

01. Come (original shorter faster version)
02. Endorphinmachine (original rawer mix)
03. Space
04. Pheromone
05. Loose
06. Papa
07. Zannalee
08. Pope
09. Dark
10. Race (full length version)
11. Extraordinary
12. Dolphin
13. Come (album version)

.

i like that a lot. although i've never cared for "pope" too much.

shocked

But there's no Interactive. biggrin

That's because I'd stick Interactive on the Gold Experience
(to replace Endorphinmachine, which is now on Come)

I love both Come and The Gold Experience but find I rarely listen to them now. Instead, I listen a lot to the 3 disc boot called The Dawn. It's nearly perfect in it's sequencing and each disc is mixed extremely well. Some fine alternate versions of songs, (no cowbell Endorphinmachine anyone?! smile), along with some fine fan made mixes, especially Dayd Of Wild, make this a real winner in my book.

This period in Prince history is easily my favourite. headbang

Discie

The 90s era version of "The Black Album"... Very dark and sinister.

Great album, best of the 90s together with "The Gold Experience".

There is no "90's era version" of the Black album.

It's exactly the same as the one originally intended for release back in 1987.
The only difference is the release date and the catalogue number.

Yes of course, I know that.

I was simply saying the two albums have the same vibe... "Come", just like "The Black Album", is a very dark funk album, so I was just comparing the two albums, meaning "Come" was the "Black Album" of the 90s.

I don't consider either album particularly 'dark'. I think people are often
influenced by the cover art more than the music.

Other than 'Bob George', The Black Album is mostly made up of upbeat party
music plus one ballad.

Come does have a few 'dark' tracks (Papa, Dark and Solo), but I wouldn't
consider the other tracks dark.

wink I'd agree with that (but then I am biased)

I just think the material for both albums works better when the tracklists
are mixed up a little, as the varying musical styles all balance each other
out when juxtaposed on the same album, while still retaining a cohesive
overall sound. (i.e. even though there's a huge range of styles and sounds
it still hangs together as a whole without sounding cobbled together)

I get what you are saying, but for myself I like the separation TGE and Come provides. I like the over-the-top, really shiny rock/pop sound of Gold, and the more low-key, stripped-down, under-the-radar aspect of Come. To me they work best as two sides of a coin. Mixing all the tracks together doesn't really work as well for me personally.

This is in my top 5 if not my favourite Prince album

The mood created with the artwork and amazing music.
I'm not saying it's his greatest moment or the pinical of his career just that it's my favorite album.

I enjoy it as a flawless sequence as it was only the third Prince album I had owned and played from start to finnish

"Dead on It" surely has no positive vibe...

Also the lyrics of "Superfunkycalifragisexy" could be considered "dark" and "sinister"...

I thinks its more than just the album art!

Definitely. The whole album was a dude basically trying to get laid, brag about getting laid and then get laid again.

Le Grind - A song about a sex position
Cindy C - Sex with a supermodel
Dead On It - look at my style! Wanna fuck?
When 2 R In Love - I'll slow it down to get laid
Bob George - Cheat on me and I'll kill you!
Superfunkicalifragisexy - Bondage sex
2 Nigs United 4 West Compton - Cat's fuck me pumps!
Rock Hard In A Funky Place - Don't waste that erection!
When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!
