wasn't this on the (local) TV news? remember seeing an old snippet about it over on youtube a couple of years ago. Said stuff like 'this junior high student never expected Prince to respond to her letter, but he did'... can't remember if there was an interview with the girl, but don't think there was.

C'mon folks! It's been there 2 see many times! I just wonder WHAT VIDEO he sent her? From 'Purple Rain' or 'Parade'? Post-stamped 1984... Not Parade, I don't think. WDC, maybe?

The present owners can brag about it now but it's just not the same. Honestly I'd have passed it on to my daughter and let her sell it after I croaked. She would have reaped a tidy sum.
I couldn't imagine having to part with something like that.

I'm sure your great uncle was a fine woman. I just peed m'self! Seriously, my aunt has almost the same penmanship. The letter was way cool tho. [Edited 8/6/09 21:37pm]

He's starin' right at me, too. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

That's kind to answer and write to her. She must have written him many letters.
I suppose he won't make a habit of it. I would hate my letters to be put on public display! "Free URself, B the best that U can B, 3rd Apartment from the Sun, nothing left to fear" Prince Rogers Nelson - Forever in my Life -
