UGTL was #2 in the US Alphabet St. was only #1 in Norway. #8 in the US Thieves was #1 on the R&B charts only, but yes, #1 in the US D&P was #1 on the R&B only. 7 was #1 no where. - "First" black artist on mtv. Major artist you can see that was going to get a push. You can say he is the first black arist to have 2 music videos on mtv. - "First" major known entertainer to sell exclusive product on the internet. People like to forget this - Warner Bros made fun of him for doing this - The Simpsons even did a skit having Prince as the center of the internet. That's not quite true...it's been claimed that the Duran Duran single "Electric Barbarella" was the first commercial music download back in 97. From Wikipedia: "Telling Lies" is a single by David Bowie written in 1996 and in 1997 released for the album Earthling. Three versions of "Telling Lies" were released on Bowie's official website beginning September 11, 1996 - one version was released for each of three weeks - constituting the first ever downloadable single by a major artist. According to issued press releases, over 300,000 people downloaded the original Internet-only release. Two months later, it was released as a single by BMG. . Lion -- Go Peter go!!

On all the documentaries I've seen on MJ they all say MJ paved the way for artists such as Prince on Mtv so I don't think he was the first here. The first to get in touch with his feminine side perhaps? "Free URself, B the best that U can B, 3rd Apartment from the Sun, nothing left to fear" Prince Rogers Nelson - Forever in my Life -
