Who's playing on 2 Nigs United 4 West Compton?

Heard it again today for the first time in years. Love that song and that album. It's such avant guard funk. Wish Prince were so adventurous now.
Who are all the musicians on it?

Besides Prince and Eric Leeds and perhaps Atlanta Bliss, Sheila's on drums. Sheila also came up with the title of the song. She and P also did another instrumental called "3 Nigs Watching A Kung Fu Movie". Sheila also came up with the title for that.

The Black Album is a funk beat-down, and 2 Nigs is the blood soaked steel-toed boot. The rhythm section, and especially the bass line on this track is a whirling dervish of everything that's cool about Prince's ability to stank up a song.

An album of 2 Nigs style instrumental jams would have been pure bliss.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I love this description! biggrin

"Love Hurts.
Your lies, they cut me.
Now your words don't mean a thing.
I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..."

Being someone who has always loved instrumentals 2 Nigs was my #1 when I got this in 87

Real stripped raw
This album was dangerous with even being in your face dangerous, nothing really 'evil' about it but it had an unrestrained feel to it despite it musically being really stripped

Man we sure did miss out on Black promotion for this: what would the look be, videos? tour or aftershows...I bet some of the photos we see from the Lovesexy era were originally for the Black album

When I heard "The Jam" by Graham Central Station I kind of wondered was 2 Nigs inspired by it. Nonetheless a awesome track.

Love 2 nigs, but why oh why did prince feel it necessary to add that annoying high hat through most of it!? i would like to hear an undubbed raw version!

I like the hi-hat. I didn't realize it was overdubbed.

Good question.
