They want instant gratification and would rather piss people off by asking redunant questions rather than using the handy search function here or using Google. I think some people just spout off at the mouth to hear themselves talk
Maybe they don't do that out of laziness but in order to establish communication with others... Right that's what it's all about I love talking with Prince fans about Prince 1976-2009

The other one doesn't work properly. I'm sure that if you want to continue discussing a closed topic you will get the majority of Orgers to join in if the topic is interesting and there is a point in re-discussing it. However, some topics have been closed for a reason. I thought they close after a period of time If you go to 'list of eras' sticky and click on them a lot of them you just can't post to anymore, no reason I believe I asked a mod about that and they said that's just how it goes

And to top it off it is the newer members who are less negative and who think that his new output is great but not the old and the cranky. I love to see when King goes on an tangent cause I like his interest in the Prince world. There are those on here who just seem to think that they know everything and then get mad at him for no apparent reason and he may say something but a lot of times he just strides on by the stupidity. That is one thing that I like about the kid. And that dead horse emoticon is a little redundant with its use. Since this is the net and it is all just conjecture maybe some of those old and cranky should cut the newbies a break.

When U have been reading posts for a long time, it is common that topic's on Prince will be repeated.
We have discussed "Purple Rain," plenty of times and we should...There isn't ever going to come a time when saying that Prince has influenced us with great music should be considered..."Overdone." "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

Right, I've been a fan since the early years, and I joined Prince.org about a ayear ago, I wanted conversation, I saw that a lot of the thread I couldn't post to. I had a bit too much people crack on me for 'bringing that up again'

Why bring up a thread from 2004? People will find a way to get mad about that and say "Oh why is this being brought up again? You could've started a new thread!" I've been here for 10 years now and MANY topics are talked about over and over but each time that happens, you have new people come in and chime in about the subject when they didn't chime in a year ago for the same topic. There's nothing wrong with that cause it's cool to hear what someone else may have to say about a particular song or album and it can give you a new perspective on the subject, if you are open to that. I love seeing new fans come and talk about Prince. It shows that his music is still appealing to people, young or old. The only thing that I care about with that is that the person or persons making new topics would be clear and concise with what they are saying so that I'm not trying to decipher what's being said like it's a puzzle or something. We are all here because we are Prince fans....well the majority of us are. If you don't want to talk about something that's been discussed ad nauseum to you, don't click on to it. Let others have their fun. Silence can be golden and it's better for you to ignore it then to come on there and start shit (I'm talking to me as much as I am you with that one). We are here to talk about an artist that we love, respect and/or admire. Lets have some fun while we are here! I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

A lot of depth and levels to the song history, people involved, albums tours Proteges films There are fans who were there from the beginning and others who came on at various albums I'm saying all this in response to members who are impatient with new members or new members who are 'new' fans of Prince We may have been fans and talked about discussed and compared notes for a long time about Prince history but new members or fans most likely didn't have the opportunity we had Even I'm still learing especially since there was so much happening that wasn't available(lack of internet) (media exposure different in pre 90's) lot of history and background that didn't come to light until later. I'm using theKing662 for example, Young guy who appreciates Prince music especially the earlier years and a few too many people jump all over him when he asks questions. I love it, I love his and others appreciation for those years and their curiosity. In a day and age when youth are exposed to so much clone music. [Edited 8/4/09 9:00am] [Edited 8/5/09 12:22pm]

Actually I'm not talking about a thread from 2004, there are threads that were sstarted this year. Again I don't know the timing on the shut down, but a few months and it's closed. Right and that's what it is, new fans/member or even people where there but didn't see the post, all it takes is day for a new topic to end up on page 9, thats a lot of searching even the search engine doesn't always pull up what you may be looking for Me too I love hearing new fans opinions I do get irked when people don't understand what eras were like, I lived in the 70's and 80's and understand culture at that time, but too many youth now live in a very narrow view of style, music, expression etc etc And I LOVE reading stuff from veteran fans, those who were at shows during my favorite years 1978-1989 and their recounting of their first Prince album or what they felt when listening to Sexuality or Old Friends 4 Sale

BUT!!!! think people should relax and give others a chance. have more patients and understanding. You talk about the youth of today.... at some point we was this shallow with opinions and life. we thought at times what do they know what do they understand. but or generation also seemed to have a better listening ear and more respect for the older generation. what do hate is someone telling me something about a era they wasn't even a sperm cell in, and then trying to tell me 'm wrong. but thats just the arrogance of life.(But then go back to the 80's and read what prince sang about and it was bad enough then) 2 me now the world is completely fucked up and just pray that one day a generation will try and fix things cop on and realize that our generations before and after us fucked up even though some of us just love purple and was funkin funky and that we did have a laugh and we did enjoy life and friends and we did have love4oneanother. is wasn't 2 deep or :

While I'm sure I won't win the contest for "Biggest Fan" on this site, I love him nonetheless. I've listened to Prince my whole life (21 years) and my appreciation for his music manifested into a huge crush on him at around 9 or 10. I love this board, but I'm scared shitless by the thought of asking a question. Hence my never starting a thread in this area. I like the depth of most convos and I feel that as long as it's relevant to the nature of the thread all answers are justified. I don't know everything about him, but it isn't my personal task either. Love the man, love the music, and for the longest time I felt like people just thought it was "uncool" to dig Prince. With the recent passing of MJ I look like an ass always playing Prince. None of my friends really understand it. I listen to him not to spite Michael, but because I ALWAYS listen to Prince. I feel like I'm being judged for picking Pepsi in the PEPSI Challenge! (What the hell? I don't like Coke. LOL)
The only thing I know I would really like to see is knowledge of the tours, because I've never seen a show. Hopefully, if my baby does decide to tour, I'll score those tickets. Might have to not pay my cell phone bill, but it will be worth it. It's THE MAN! Other than that, anything else (picture threads ) are bonus. And I don't mind anything extra concerning him. Looking forward to what comes next. Peace, Hip Hop & Purple Rain Love is 2 Weak 2 Define, Just What U Mean 2 Me - ADORE
