Purple Rain LP Signed by Prince soon mine :) Hello fellow orgers, i have found a big big memorabilia store." in las vegas that sells authenticated signed pics/guitars,cd's etc. They showed me a couple of signed prince pics and a sheet music set for the song 7 signed by prince. The boss of the store came to me and showed me a signed purple rain lp. With authentication and a picture showing prince signing the album. I know some people at the store and aditionally the boss is very generous. He offered me the purple rain lp plus some other signed prince stuff for 400 dollars. Now we all know prince nowadays signs nothing and only during purple rain he signed a little bit. This store is serious and even is a small chain and has shops in other cities. So there is no doubt the stuff is not fake and as well i know what princes signature looks like. Its a beautiful one if i may add. So i was just looking to see if its a good deal. I may be dumb to ask cause i know pretty safely it is. [Edited 8/5/09 15:55pm]

I don't trust these stores myself. I was in Maui & a so called trusted store had a Musicology tour program that was signed.
He said his friend was a friend of his. As far as i know prince hasn't signed anything in over a decade or more. I pressed the guy on this & his claim sounded more fishy by the minute so i passed. I hope yours is legit for your sake. [Edited 8/5/09 15:54pm]

like said this picture shows prince in the mid 80ties signing the album. So called runners go and get these things signed and take pics of the celebrities while doing so [Edited 8/5/09 16:24pm]

Why would you want a signature of Prince's even if it was genuine, if Prince didn't sign it 4 you? In my opinion it doesn't have any sentiment. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

I wouldn't buy jack in Vegas. I was just there a few weeks ago and there was a few stores selling a bunch of Prince’s stuff (I snuck a few pictures) and it all looked fake. I asked the lady "so when did you get the autography?" and she said it's less then 4 years ago.
Issues I had: 1) The guitar didn't look like one of his (even though it could have been one he used). 2) The picture with it didn't match the guitar...which was weird to me. 3) The autography didn't look real....even though it could have been. 4) If Prince doesn't sign autographs how did they get this one? I heard him say it on BET w/ Tavis Smiley in 1998 that he does not sign autographs. If he did why would he let someone sell it? He doesn't like pwople making money off of him. Shoot...was can't even look at pictures of him on the org. Sorry….I just wouldn’t feel right buying something...not for big money. [Edited 8/5/09 21:03pm] Prime aka The Kid

There is only one way to tell if a Prince autograph is real. You watched him sign it.
COAs can be faked (most are). Prince autographs can be faked (most are). A photo of Prince signing an autograph on an LP does not mean it was that LP. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Fair enough. It was sent in into one of those Authentification firms that sent a letter back saying they measured all the aspects etc and that they consider it 99 percent real as they have some real prince signatures on hand. Prince usto sign autographs. My friend who knows prince and made the dawn website for him told me prince usto sign things during the purple rain ERA. He has a LP signed by prince as well that he got directly from him and a pic of them next to eachother. As well as the boss in vegas that has 3 other shops in texas etc told me the same story. This guy has a huge reputation i checked him out on the internet. He has the original gibson thunderbird signed by clapton for 135,000 dollars in the store and a bunch of pictures of him and famous people standing next to eachother so i would not doubt it in this case i have looked around very very carefully since a few years, this seems the first one i trust

Probably the same store in Vegas that tried to sell me a "stage played" cloud guitar.
This authentic beauty had a bolt on neck and an NPG store serial number on it. Oh, yea, it was $25,000 as well. Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

Thing is no matter who you send it to for 'authentication' or what assurances you are given by the seller you can never be 100% sure that it's genuine.
If you are happy to spend that kind of money then buy it, frame it, treasure it, enjoy it and believe that it's legit. if you've gotta pay for things that you've done wrong I've gotta big bill coming at the end of the day- Gil Scott Heron

Aditionally if i may add, these stores accept no memorabilia from random people or people coming in wanting to sell stuff and buy nothing online from others. They go directly to the musician/actor and get the signature. It is guaranteed.

Prince absolutely signed autographs during the Purple Rain era. That's not the point that we are trying to make. No one's trying to piss on your parade. Just trying to keep you from being burned. It could be an authentic Prince signature. But it all comes down to trusting this dealer. Is that enough to plunk down that kind of cash? If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Prince and NPG signed autographs in ATL in 1992, but as of 1998 he said he does not sign autographs "So don't ask". So like SG said we just trying to help so you don't get burned. I personnally question anything signed after 1996. Plus, he doesn't like to do things that get turned around re seold for a profit. So, why would he sign stuff and give it to a store when he could sign it and sell it on his website for even more money? JMO But hey, If you want it and you feel it is real....go get it and enjoy.
