Diddy sampling Prince yet again...

didn't see this on the first few pages yet, apologize if it is a double post...

http://www.mtv.com/videos...id=1616788

go to 3:25 to hear some music from Diddy's upcoming CD in the background. Sounds like the drums from All the Critics Love You in New York with some other Linn 80's Prince effects thrown in.

This makes me want to scream - all these little snot nosed kids will go around thinking P Diddy came up with that and that he came up with that style.

I assume by now that kids aren't listening to P Diddy.

But then, I can't really say who would be. When's the last time he put out a popular album?

Diddy is a big Prince fan. Also he is friends with Prince. I've seen Diddy at a private party Prince threw after the BEt Awards. So whats wrong with him biting him? I c nothing wrong with it.
eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

I just recently notice this. I think it's great, I want 2 hear that cut in full. It has that All The Critics Love U In New York meets Turn It Up with Autotune. LOL! I think it's cool. I think that it's great 2 have folks like Diddy, Pharrel, Questlove, Andre 3000, Trey Songs, WillIAm, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, and others showing their influence of Prince. Prince music has 4ever changed so many people. Prince music is like no other. That Purple Music era (1982-1986) was great, nothing like it. I think Diddy did a great job with the Last Night remixes. That mix of When Doves Cry meets Erotic City was a winner 2 me. It's Purple Music and u can't hate that.

to be fair guys even if that was the exact same pattern to all the critics love you in NY it still wouldnt technically be a sample

what you can hear are linn drum sound fx and a drum pattern that points to the resurgence of 80's aesthetic in pop music production.

I stumbled upon it and watched the first episode and enjoyed it because the focus was on music and musicians. I might actually watch some more for that reason.

This reminds me of Jurassic Park where Dr Malcolm says "I'll tell you the problem with the scientific power that you're using here: it didn't require any discipline to attain it. You read what others had done and you took the next step. You didn't earn the knowledge for yourselves, so you don't take any responsibility... for it. You stood on the shoulders of geniuses to accomplish something as fast as you could and before you even knew what you had you patented it and packaged it and slapped it on a plastic lunchbox, and now you're selling it"

I think that sums up P.Diddy's career quite succinctly. razz

Diddy never had an original thought in his life.
Why should that change now.
As an artist he's obsolete and Bad Boy is just a tax write off.

I was thinking the samething when I just HEARD the first weeks show of Sean's new reality show. It was so "Prince-y" Justine took that same vibe of that live band ONA vibe.

Just like all acts - everyone is 7 years behind Prince.

Yeah,I saw a previous clip of Diddy in the studio, working on his new album. He's using music that sounds like it's from Prince's '1999' album sessions! I actually like this music. It's too bad that he'll probably throw a lame rap on top of it,lol.

So true.I wonder, how did this guy ever become a successful producer? What does he actually do in the studio? He uses alot of samples and the beats are already programmed.
