Love this song. The footage of him performing this song in the infamous first avenue concert is terrific. Question. What version was cut out of the movie and I think the original double purple rain album. The live version like purple rain or another cut. I've never found a proffessionally remastered version of the first avenue performance so this is why I'm wondering.

No there are definately two versions cause when I downloaded the song I got the second version and was disappointed I didn't get the first avenue performance.

There is a beefed up version of the First Ave performance floating around. All of the audience noise is gone, and the sound is better in general from what has been circulating for years.

i think one regular voice and another in falsetto.

i think the one with regular voice is the best version. the first ave version isnt as good imo

There are three rehearsal outtakes, two of which are from the same session, and the only live performance at the First Avenue Benefit Concert.
