Great performances - especially LRC, but why is the crowd so flat? Apart from the first couple of rows they look a bit bored by the whole thing

Shouldn't this be moved to either the live forum, the lotursflow2r forum or the oh my fuck i might be getting some bang for my buck forum?

They were the ones just concentrating on where Prince had changed lyrics and arrangements, thus robbing the original unreleased versions of that Revolution inspired magic that Prince has just lost now, and they were also thinking that they bet Prince was going to do a second show where he repeated parts of the setlist, and so basically robbed them of their ticket price by not gracing them with completely different songs. Apart from that they were sort of excited. [Edited 7/31/09 2:29am] Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

THE "MONTREUX JAZZ FESTIVAL WITH PRINCE" WAS BRILLIANT!!!!
THIS IS THE BAND THAT PRINCE SHOULD HAVE TAKEN WITH HIM FOR THE 21 NIGHTS IN LONDON!!!! PRINCE"S NEW RENDITION OF " LITTLE RED CORVETTE" IS SO REFRESHING AND SO FULL OF HEART AND PASSION IT IS REDICULOUS!!!!! THIS IS HOW THIS TUNE WOULD SOUND IF ERIC CLAPTON PERFORMED IT LIVE!!!! PRINCE"S LIVE OPENER OF " WHEN I LAY MY HANDS OF YOU," IS FABULOUS AND POWERFUL NOT TO MENTION A REAL TREAT FOR THE HARDCORE.....NOW WERE TALKIN!!!!! Think the version of WILMHOY is excellent - vocals, guitar, keyboards - spot on! Very powerful, could and will watch repeatedly !
However, I really didn't like this version of LRC - I'll give it to him for totally re-shaping a classic monster hit, but for me this lacked any fire and the dynamism that this song is all about. With that musical and vocal interpretation he could have been singing about the sweetness of his grandma's lemon cake, not some hot encounter with a wild woman ! For me, the alternative accoustic version from the Musicology tour or the electric guitar only versions he did at the O2 were far better - the vocals were still impassioned, there was some geunine rawness to it and there was some actual resemblance to the original tune/hook - i.e. we could still recognise that it was LRC! Tuztones - I know it's all about opinion, but do we really want Prince to sound like Eric Clapton doing a Prince song??? Eric's a cool artist and a very good guitar player, don't get me wrong, but they are very different artists and I prefer it that way! Sure Prince is ageing and will thus have a different take on a song, and it's brave and cool that he will attempt such a radical interpretation of one of his most loved classics. He may have also had one eye on the nature of this particular gig in mind - but, for me, this one just didn't work at all ! [Edited 7/31/09 4:08am]

I will do something that I hardly do and that is say that I was trying for 30 minutes to get to the videos and that damn screen just kept moving around so that I didn't get to see the new ones. I am so pissed at that site right now. There I have said it and now I have cleansed myself of the anger. Not really!!!

Wow, I had a dream last night that there was some action. I hope I can get to it via my work computer. Probably not. I abdicated the throne in Ithaca, but now I am...

[Edited 7/31/09 4:08am] Good review I think it was 'Jazz Festival' that he tried to fall in line with But he has enough songs that have a jazz touch feel to them that it would have worked without changing some classics like LRC There are probably more songs after Diamonds & Pearls that could work with a jazz remix, not to much before He definately should have had Bria there and I think songs from her album could have blended well with the show He could have broken out with a few Madhouse hits... oop I just remembered you gotta have horns on those you gotta have Eric Leeds on horns...

I liked both of the videos.
I am glad Prince added some good, unseen (by most people) stuff to the site. Keep it up, Prince I abdicated the throne in Ithaca, but now I am...

Yes nice. But why again that sphere? Why the long wait for anything 'interesting' to be added? Why no news about that DVD? (it's going to be shelved? did he decide on that O2 DVD yet?) Why those two songs and not one of the others? Which show are these from? Etc. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.
