Favorite Album Cover What is your favorite Prince album cover? mine is Dirty Mind. nice guy. | |

although i think the album is seriously weak and one of my least fav prince albums out of all of them, this cover is still one of my fav, if not the fav. most of his covers are not that great. some of the 80s lps had nice covers. sign o the times is top notch, lovesexy, though weird is a good cover. so is around the world in a day. but post lovesexy most of his covers were pretty horrible. diamonds and pearls being a notable exception. great pic, nice composition, good font, beautiful colour. picedit [Edited 7/23/09 15:12pm] and true love lives on lollipops and crisps | |

In order:
Loved the entire look of this era. All the 12" sleeves and jackets were terrific. 
What a bad-ass move. 
Love this concept. Especially combined with the posters that were just huge black sheets. 
Nouveau-retro. Great photography and layout. - JEFF KATZ (photographer): We were shooting in La Victorine studios in Nice, where Truffaut made his movies. It was just Prince and me and this little boom box in this massive room. I would shoot a few rolls; he would put on some music. This went on for a couple of hours, not really talking. We ended up with that "Parade" album cover. I was there for four months. He wasn't interested in candid photos. It was like, "This is my look, and this is how it has to be all the time."

I loved the cover of the Prince album. It's simplicity was sexy. Just a shirtless Prince and his name. Nothing better.
Plus that Soul Glo, Blow Out was pretty fierce. I don't dig that Musiciology cover. It just looks like a candid of Prince pausing to think outside of a vine covered building. LOL. I love a Man who:

I love those pics not for aesthetic reasons (though the "Dirty Mind" and "Lovesexy" covers are particularly nice), but just because, I love seeing my friends having that WTF?? face whenever they enter my bedroom and see those CDs... I cant get enough of it  ... And the "thats so gay" line too ... Especially the girls.. I gotta admit, as an ex-Prince non fan,these covers are a bit... uh... gay and weird,lolEverybody is somebody, but nobody wants to be themselves. | |
