I mean, even now... on itunes, it's this one massive track... the mistake that keeps on living... [Edited 7/23/09 2:50am] No. This is the mans artistic vision. Its like how David Lynch refused to put Chapter Selection on his DVD's because he wanted everything to flow from beginning to end naturally. Same with Lovesexy, Prince was telling us something, he is an artist, a visonary and therefore will do what his art art and vision asks. In the words of another artist, Bob Dylan, "Do not criticise what you can't understand" It's his vision and career I understand it. I still think it's extremely stupid.

And the Lovesexy cover is WONDERFUL! One of his absolute best! There it is. This goes with my prior point. One can love something as a fan, but still face that to the "general population" it's a Big Fat Fail. Lovesexy cover is personally a favorite of mine (aside from SOTT and ATWIAD I don't think he's had many "great" covers). I like the crispness of it, the colors, the "other-wordliness" of it, and the fact that he had the balls to put it out there period. But to a lot of the non-fan world it's probably seen as one of worst (or at least WTF ) covers in Popular Music. He got clowned big time for that cover and there's no denying that.

Oh honey, Prince was loving those sexy men's hands all over his ass and pumping it. It was earlier on that same show, when he performed "Kiss" and those men made a carosel around him. It's not for me. It's for my girlfriend. Almost like if a man would walk into a store and buy Playgirl magazine lol in 2009 I have no problem with that cover but in 1988 I was so excited to go to the store and get it and then I saw he cover, I was so embarassed, even though I didn't mind it, I just didn't want to lay that face up, I waited until no one seemed to be going to the cashier, rushed it home turned it inside out Now if it was a 'poster' on the inside it would have been cool like the Controversy bathroom poster, I would have said to myself 'uh oh Rude Boy is about to turn it out' I picture of prince with the band would have been cool or the photo of him in the black suit with the big white buttons

This might have been mentioned, but I think a GREAT example is not allowing his music on outlets like You Tube.
REALLY backfiring! The "control freak" that is Prince is a little "too controlling" for his own good. Imagine how much more of a legend he would be if his boots were available on You Tube... songs like Just My Imagination, and videos like 18 and Over. Wow. That's Keeping it Prince going WRONG! His control freakness! The public is squeezin' you kiddo. You'd better kick ass on your next album or else!

Keeping it Prince means adapting to the musical times, and I think the whole Hip-Hop / Game Boyz faze that he went through went wrong immediately for me as a fan. When he does it himself, I have no complaints. But how many songs did Tony M. butcher because of his wasted presence? I agree, but even more Prince had already adapted to rap without changing his sound voice or style (I still hate songs where his voice has that 'trying to be down, rappish feel) via Hollyrock, Love or Money, Alphabet St, Positivity, It's Gonna Be a Beautiful Night, Girls & Boys and a few others that had poetic/rap pieces and vibes and it was straight up Purple Music

Not just Prince showing us his nether regions. It was and is a statement of transformation, beauty, and emancipation. The flowers symbolize a rebirth as he bravely and brazenly shows you his male and female sides. If you can't hear any of that on the album, then it is simply your loss.
Exactly as i was saying about it being a vision and his artistry. Well put. Prince had shown us his nether regions long B4 Lovesexy And I still like the Lovesexy cover

My only complaint was that his dick wasn't showing. What the hell is the purpose of posing nude if you ain't gonna show the dick? Andy is a four letter word.

I can't understand why some of you don't understand that not one penney of a royalty is being paid out by YOUTUBE. In addtion, did people who paid for the first music club get a chance to see the video for 18 and over? I am sure if YOUTUBE coughed up money tommorow you would you see Prince stuff on the site. I think the RAVE cover was the worst because he looks so sinister looking.
