ahh that it's reported that someone in his family had the name of prince and he named his children after that family member and not of a 5 ft 2 midget big grin
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

As soon as he died, my cousin said to me, "I wonder if he felt like he had to try and outdo Prince, being as he thought of himself as the King".....

It's certainly plausible.....Michael always saw Prince as his rival in some ways whereas Prince never gave a fuck and just did what he wanted to do.

I questioned that too. Remember he wanted to do Vegas shows after Prince did his there too, but somehow that did not get off the ground.

okay i don't know what i find more fascinating about these pics, the fact that he's in a room with a picture of himself above the bed, or that he's reading USA TODAY big grin

I remember when Purple Rain came out and a lot of the newspapers headlines were titled "Who's the real King of Pop" MJ or Prince? They sort of hyped like there was some competition going on between the two.

Michael was a legend and I have been a fan of his for a long time. The problem I had was that Michael always talked about numbers. It was mentioned that he wasn't happy with Off The Wall because he wanted it to sell more. I wish he would have put out more product though. For Prince, I think that after Purple Rain he felt he didn't need to prove anything else. So Prince tried new things.I always admired that.Hit or Miss he kept it moving. They are both legends.

So what if he wanted to sell? Who doesn't? At least people are still aware of what a legend MJ is/was. No one has any idea about Prince any more.

Duh no one wanted to know about MJ now they all loved him...and to say no one knows about Prince is kinda like saying hes a virgin

What are you talking about? The general public knows about Prince just fine. He's had a great come back this decade and for the right reasons. Sold out tours, shows, one of the best Super Bowl half-times in recent memory, Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, etc. He's aging like fine wine and the public seems to appreciate him a lot.

I cannot believe that picture. Is it for real? Where did it come from? And why would he be photographed reading about Prince and with his own pic above him? eek (I'd sure like to see the article he's reading lol!I bet I read it back in the day myself!)

Ditto. Prince didn't have to OD in Los Angeles to become "relevant" again like Michael "When the last time I made music for release" Jackson!

If I recall it's Prince Michael Joesph Jackson his oldest son and Prince Michael Jackson aka "blanket" his youngest. Michael's grandfather was called Prince, and that is where Michael got it from.

The Chef is making the rounds now - trying to say that Michael ate well , etc ... which to me only implies that he had some serious problems - was he splurging and puking ? or did the drugs he was using make him thin???

As far as "the public" not knowing much about Prince ,etc ... i would echo what has been said by a few on this website - there still are alot of people who could care less about whacko jacko ... i think all of this coming out now is just proof that the guy was odd-mentally ... I still like some of his music and seeing that raw dvd footage of his last performances is neat ...

but i still dont own any of his albums ... cool and i do think from a "critics" choice - Prince has accomplished much more ... i would take a musician over a dancer any day (although Michael has written a few great tunes , admittedly)
Colonel Angus may be smelly. colonel angus may be a little rough . but deep down ... Colonel angus is very sweet.

What the hell? MJ didn't overdose, he was given a drug by a doctor more concerned with keeping his job than being safe. Learn your facts before you go making a fool of yourself.

Oh, and Prince hasn't had a hit since 1995. falloff

Oh exactly. Michael Jackson was a pampered lil' junkie who could afford to bypass the street corner and still get his fix! Great example for 3 impressionable kids and role model for the youth of today. If he was a broke ass dude he'd have died in an alley instead of a rented mansion. Dress it up however you want. A druggie is still a druggie!

The music business has gone in the toilet in this 21st Century Internet era. Where as having "hit" songs used to matter, it doesn't anymore.. Prince purposely left the label system and consequently stopped having "hit" songs. Also, if you are using the charts as a barometer of quality...don't.

How much do charts matter? Well, right now Michael Jackson is making a mockery of the music charts and exposing them for being what they are- pointless and irrelevant.

Bottom line: Artists make their money from touring now. Guess who is a giant amongst men when it comes to touring/live shows? Prince.
