U Got the Look- why is this song so great? I have a borderline obsession for this song and I can't figure out why. I must listen to it everyday. Something about the music- the way it's layered or something. I mean, it's always been a fave, from the first time I heard it on cassette back in the day.
Can someone break it down musically? The bass, cowbells, etc. Other than the Camille/speeded up voice thing, what is it about this song that is so great?

I like this song too...It's pitchy, It's catchy, it's all about the World Series, and looking good when the lights come on. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

Its was a sureshot Pop song. I love the long version with the intro. The video was hot and it helped seeing Sheena Easton out of her good-girl character. No breakdown of instruments or anything needed..It was just a good pop song

He had a great chemistry with Sheena Easton and with the exception on "Arms of Orion" all of their collaborations were pretty good(Cool Love, Eternity) to amazing(U Got the Look, 101, Sugar Walls & La,la,la,he,he,hee). Iwish whatever split them up artistically could be repaired and they'd record more music. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

To be honest, I never liked it much.
Prince's lazy songwriting and adoption of trendy street talk rears its ugly head. "you 'sho' nuff do be cookin'' in my book. Your face is 'jammin'' your body's "heck-a-slammin'' horrid.

I fell in love again with the version that was played on Rave 2000.
On SOTT the song was a nice way to open the 2nd side of the cassette. One of may all time favs.

such a great one..
the spooky intro sounds still kill me and i love how he incorporated them into the first half of the lovesexy shows... it is just fast / tight / relentless.. and i LOVE when he blasts the guitar and really makes it rock when done live... BUT: i do think he was inspired by Ray Parker Jr's 'The Other Woman".... if prince's voice werent sped up, it would sound similar... the little cowbell or whatever percussion instrument.. AND, Ray Parker even uses the word "tough" to describe a girl.. hmmm..

I never fell out of love with it, but I do love the Rave 2000 version. Wish it was a big longer.
