*IF* the DVD will get released it will be edited, as usual.
I.e.: it will not just be the whole 1st show or the whole 2nd show.
Probably there will even be overdubs, embellishments, etc.
Thus the feel of a proper document of a show, which he has NEVER ever released before, will not be reached.

My 'complaints' were just that.
Those were not remarks about my enjoyment of the show.

I did like going to Montreux, despite the whacky hotelier in the south of Germany, despite my halfway bad night of sleep from friday into saturday.
We arrived in Montreux around 10:30, so there was plenty time to have a slight look around, check out the scene, the town, get somefood and swiss cash, etc.
The festival hall had a nice chill out room near the queue area (of which I have pictures). The whole queueuing process was not too bad, the security searching was not to thoroughly or intrusive so it was OK.

Then upstairs to the hall. Again queueing in front of the doors. waiting seats nearby, big screen with video.
Then run or rather walk into the hall itself. No seats on the floor, nice acoustic improvements on the ceiling, two HD video screens at the sides of the stage.

The first show -the main part- was perfect. No exaggeration, it was just that. The music was good, everything fitted, the crowd was quited when it needed to be that.
The encore was 'normal', not perfect, just good so still nice.

Then exit the hall, get some food, drink, fetch ticket, etc, rest a bit and queue for the 2nd show. Same process of entry...
More guitar-oriented songs at the beginning, you know the setlist.
Overall the feeling for the 2nd show was different. Less 'magic', yet still very much worth the effort of travelling there and enjoyable of course.

After the 2nd show, Claude Nobs took the stage to talk to the audience.
He mentioned that thes would be the only 2 Prince shows for 2009. (so for the rest of the year his hips will be operated on? What about the rumors then?)

I was pretty annoyed that he played the same songs twice. It didn't seem fair - I can't understand why he did it.

Everybody has a right to an opinion but, when it stretches out to the point of going past common sense do not expect people not to comment.

It was in the media that the shows would be taped and other artist have done the same thing when taping shows. In addtion, do you really think when you see a taped television performance or buy or for some of you look at a taped concert that the show has not been edited.

Nothing out of the norm was being done at this show and some of you are only complaining because it was Prince.
