[Edited 7/17/09 14:58pm] Someone already mentioned the boot "12 Inch" and the 2 disc "Ultimate Prince". The B-side 12 inches are really hard to locate a few are still in print on import cds and some american releases but you have to look for them all over. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming! | |

To HonestMan: this is true, but maybe other people's opinions on the track influenced me too much. People say that the extended version sounds like an afterthought, not really in the vein of the original. Whereas Let's Work etc are. I think I let that make me think this isn't worthy of the same status of other 12". Maybe I should open my purple mind! | |

What I liked most about the 12" versions/b-sides was the feeling of the performances being improvised and off the script. The old man and woman on "Kiss" and the whispering of Wendy and Lisa on "Girl". It felt impossible to script all of that and make it just so funky. i think they played around more in the studio and kept what felt right and it worked 99% of the time. ALL the 12 inch singles from the 1980s are brilliant,  
every single one from Let's Work in 1981... to The Scandalous Sex Suite in 1989. Prince really spoiled us in those years 1981 to 1989 
Thieves In The Temple and Gett Off are brilliant too....

i LOVE the house mix of "get off"- the re-recorded vocal and extra lyrics are great, and it really moves. i love the "the future" remix too- not so much the
electric chair" mix- and i'd be so happy if the "mountains" 12" was released... i have high hopes for some digital releases. now that "love or money" is finally available, and selling well, perhaps we can get more of that kind of thing. if you could just pass your history class, baby, life would be all right. |
