I believe if they/he dealt with the death differently, they might've been together even to this day...
but would she have gotten so deep into JW as Prince is?...is the question.

What saddens me a bit is that there is NO mention of their marriage or divorce on her bio. She only mentions working with him and the NPG.

First of all, not all of us have been on here since the inception of the org and would appreciate a little more understanding from fellow board members when asking questions. Yes, you may have rehashed this topic in the past but a lot of us on here haven't heard anything about it. We're here because this seems to be a great place to get information about our favorist artist, and a lot of times we get sarcasm and nastyness. Please, if you're tired of rehashing a topic, just ignore the thread all together. If you have something to add, other than sarcasm, please post and bring the rest of us up to date.

I'd be curious to know who filed for divorce? Was it Mayte or Prince?

I've heard rumour of infidelity on both sides. Her with someone in the Prince camp and him with Mattie. Is there any merit to these rumours? Details?

They weren't together very long. Are they still in contact?

I agree, that from a public point of view, they appeared very good together. How very lucky for them that they had even a short amount of time to share something that special.

Mayte was a good woman. I say WOMAN. Prince could handle her when she was still a kid but when she grew up, she also grew into her own. You can't be with Prince and be your own person. You have to be what and who he wants you to be. that goes for his professional and love relationships as well.

Although the death of baby Gregory was tragic and definitely had a negative impact on their marriage, he was gonna leave her eventually. If not physically then emotionally. Sometimes an emotional separation is worse than a physical one.

Sometimes shit just don't work out. Sometimes LOVE ain't enough. That's what happened.

...regarding Prince & Mayte...yes a lot of it is conjecture...but are we all agreed that he was asked about the wellbeing of the baby..and he said 'everything is fine there?' (paraphrasing)...even though he had passed?

Can anyone confirm the rumour that he didn't attend his mother's or his father's funerals?...if so wtf??

The man can show no weakness, he can't sing anyone else's songs (when invited) always has to put up this front...his ego will be his downfall...maybe

What would be nice though, is if they first used the search function before making a new thread. Quite often people get the hump, not because an old question is being asked, but because with less effort than creating a thread, the poster could have done a search.

For example, searching for 'prince and mayte split', yields some good results. It would also give the information to the poster quicker than having to wait for someone to reply on the forum.

This sort of thing happens a lot on forums, it isn't just something that happens here at prince.org. Fair enough if the answer isn't found by searching though!

I remember reading on the org 10 years ago that P wasn't exactly faithful to Mayte. Supposedly he was still messing with Nona Gaye and the poet 99 (whatever happened to her?)..Sadly people sometimes grow apart.

P always came across to me as a guy that was "anti-marriage".
