Prince's "Scream"- sampled by MJ???

With all the exposure MJ's passing has given his back catalog, I'm reminded of the time "Scream" was first released. I could have sworn the "Aaaaaargh" sample repeated throughout the track was lifted from the end of "Thieves In The Temple", though it's not credited, and I could never get any details at the time.

Does anybody know for sure? Listen closely- it DEFINITELY sounds like Prince, and I'm pretty sure it's not Michael...

Why would someone known for going "HOE!" and "ARGH!" in their vids and songs sample someone else doing it. confused
Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

Are you familiar with the two songs?

Listen closely to MJ's track- you can even hear the breaking glass at the end of the scream, as heard a few years previous on "Thieves...".

As for Michael's motives, I have no idea- it could've been Janet's suggestion, or Jam's, or Lewis'. But why not?

Gotta agree with Keithy, with all due respect that's ridiculous. The two screams sound nothing alike. Given the fact that you mentioned those two Magically Jovial letters, I would look for this post to get locked.....

Not a sample. One had nothing to do with the other. It DEFINITELY DOES NOT sound like Prince. It's clearly Michael's voice. As for whoever mentioned the glass breaking, it's not the first time MJ, or a million other people, had glass breaking in a song. Stop with the comparisons. Just stop.

I don't think so. The "scream" sample was taken from the Japanese animé movie "Akira".

I have heard the female scream from We March in an episode of Heroes. It was in season 1 when a cheerleader was being chased into the school hall by Sylar.
My point is that although Prince does use library/stock sound effects in a lot of songs, the scream at the end of TITT is his,and I doubt MJ sampled it.
I applaud you for getting an MJ / Prince thread under the radar tho lol

I think you are spot on. Just checked the video on youtube and every time you hear the scream it comes from an anime character on the monitor in the vid.

All of you stop hating on Screamer for posting something that could be possible.

I have to go home and listen to the two songs now...but if memory serves me right, the screamin MJ's "Scream" does sound alot like the "Thieves In The Temple" one.

Why would MJ do such a thing? Maybe he never forgave Prince for dismissing his idea to duo on "Bad". Maybe not.

Whatever, this is a valid thread. Thanks Screamer!

Good question...for an MJ board.
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.
