No record company --> no promotion. It's lying around in a few stores, but that's it.

he ain't likely to be paying radio to play his songs, his money is his. Radio in the uk is shite apart from absolute which is a dab station and do play quite a bit of old stuff. i understand 6music did play 1 song for a review, Trvor Nelson i believe but it won't get on the bbc due to lack of official release,ie record company.

The obvious answer...
The death of MJ. Peeps are buying up his music left and right....and somewhere in the back of their minds they are associating Prince with MJ...Prince is the only one left, so let's pick up his stuff before he's gone too. Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

revolution i couldn't agee with you more
death of mj along with the ellen rerun boost album sales...now i figure since he moved back to minn and after the montraux jazz festival gig,i look to maybe prince putting together a new album(perhaps the forementioned 10 cd set)since he has now total access to the vault at paisley park

Possibly this... also, possibly, the Montreaux concerts. I swear the words "HATER" is wayyy over-rated...smh

Does anyone know why sales have increased week on week? Or what the soundscan total is to date? The rerun of Ellen would be my guess. Exactly what I was thinking.

I really don't understand the reviews and some of the comments on this board. Because people love hating Prince on this site which is why he regulated the comments on NPGMC sooo tightly. Imagine that! Just because people purchase a cd they feel they can make cruel and mean comments and OVERstate their case. Anyway I went off on a tangent! I think Lotus Flow3r and MPLS sound were very very brilliant cd's from a pop perspective. It just sounds like he had fun creating the music!! Pretty awesome really. I LOVE the disc and I recommend it to any and all that want to enjoy a cd! [Edited 7/16/09 17:32pm] THE CARDINAL HAS SPOKEN!!!

The reason why I would doubt the MJ influence is that Prince's other albums haven't picked up in sales this week. Then again, maybe they have? I haven't heard anything about it.
