he shoulda made it follow 77 Beverly Place on Lotusflow3r, woulda been really nice, I think, anyway this reworking is great and I'm happy Prince lets us hear it. Yes, I think the original is better, but this one is cool to listen to especially the guitar part. [Edited 7/15/09 11:13am]

You know what Eric said well we all know what Morris use to say about being the writer of a lot the Time material in a lot of interviews turns out that was not true. I am not going to say anything wack about the chemistry of this version because I like this version and I really don’t give a shit about who is playing on it. I’ll let you keep wasting your time on that one.
“Life Can Be So Nice” who is said this was a good song? When you have nothing else to say reach for the old “you need a man” routine that shit is tired and so are you. ----- OldFriends4Sale said: laura laura puddin and pie kissed the dogs and made them cry
You continue to add meaning to what I'm saying I'm not saying I miss it, I'm just saying the remix doesn't have a musical chemistry(it really is JUST that) and I still like this remix I know for sure since Eric in a fuckin interview stated who was there NONE of us know who played on this remix of the song, we don't even know if it was just Prince, but I don't see you saying anything to people about that. And aren't those 'former' Prince band members too? again macadamian, I'm not going by what Prince said, but by musicians who were there and played on the song: Lisa Wendy & Eric talked about it(IN INTERVIEWS)not speculation lol corny, yet he put out Life Can Be So Nice which has a similar feel And look who is putting down Prince music. They are just working with the direction PRINCE wanted to go I know your probably in love with Prince and hate any woman that worked with him but live in the now, find a real man laurarichardson said: You can say whatever you want. It does not mean it makes any damm sense.
"I've heard the original and the chemistry of friends and collaboration is missing:Eric Leeds, Wendy, Sheila E, Lisa, Atlanta and a few others..." You miss the original chemistry of the orignal players. (LOL) You don't know for sure if these were the original players or who is playing on this version. You sound nutty when your comparing the players when we are never sure who the players are when it comes to Prince as he is constantly changing musicians and having people lie and say they played on something they did not. In addtion, I have news for you the original was not put out because it is corny as hell as a lot of the W&L was corny. It amazes me that some of you don't know how their presence alienated P's RnB fanbase. I don't miss them and I like this version much better and I am sure the live version will be even better. ----- [Edited 7/15/09 10:59am] [Edited 7/15/09 11:08am] [Edited 7/15/09 11:09am]

It is always going to be something with some of the people on this board. Next they will mad that P did not come to their house and deliver this music in person.

contrapposto said: I can't believe I am going to say this but I really don't like it.
On one hand I really appreciate the sentiment and think it's sweet of prince to put this out there knowing that there are purple geeks like me that have hoped this song (and many other unreleased gems) would one day be released. On the other hand the rerecording of this is light years away from the original (obv just my opinion) and the moment I finished listening my brain was blah... it's just so anticlimactic. Ya know what, it actually made me sad (doesn't take much lately, lol). There was absolutely NO magic in this version- the previous had such a vivid life of it's own and always gave me that feeling you get when you fall in love with a song for the first time. That intangible something that made me get so involved in the prince world waaaay back when I first heard the original. Maybe it's unfair of me to make comparisons since part of the charm of the original may be linked to it being unreleased and rare and the mystery around it. But this IS a remake so I think comparisons are inevitable. It's not like the icepick in the ear of 1999 the new master but to me it falls into the same category of things that should never be tinkered with or rerecorded. BUT, like I said, I think he probably wanted to give us this because there has been such a buzz about it recently on the org- at least there's comfort in knowing he's paying attention! And wouldn't it be awesome if on the lotusflow3r site he put the original up for download.. wouldn't it? Wouldn't it Prince??? u don't really know me, u just think u do

Just listened to his Club Nokia version of this song. Much better keyboard solo on that one. Really don't like his singing on this new version and that flute really gets on my nerves.
Beyond that, it aint bad..lol Better than no new stuff. Not that this is new. The original cannot be beat. That Revolution sound is just that. All you others say Hell Yea!!

Hey, I understand the moderators don't want discussions about where to get boots, etc. But I'm just saying: downloading and converting that IALRWNL flash file to MP3 was super easy, the file is not hidden at all on the Montreaux server.
I'm not advocating, just saying. If you say "DON'T TAKE THIS!" at lease lock the door. I like the last 30 seconds best, when it just mellows out. However, still prefer the original. Jason (Once a prince collector, now just old)

all imma say is that some o y'all live in the past too much. Whatever that song was is what it was. This is today and 2morrow may eveen have summin different. The old one was the old one. Apparently U already got it...U want it again? "I Wonder" is a great song, but if it were to appear again, I'd want a new one...not the one I already heard. I like W & L too..but they ain't god...Prince has and will make great music without them. BETTER music. As multi-dimensional as W & L are...they're still W & L and they still have their sound. I understand how Prince felt their stamp was infringing on his and how he might have felt he was relying on them too much. His career is based on it being HIS career/sound. One begins to loose their individuality with all that going on. Some think that's a good thing. Prince don't...his independence don't like it. U gotta take the good with the bad and the bad with the good, depending on your viewpoint...i suppose.

I was wondering the same. That could EASILY be Prince on keys and drums. I think people are assuming this is a "rework" of a Club Nokia soundboard recording. I've listened to both versions today - and while I think a few things here and there may have been lifted from one to the other, the vocals and most of the other elements are not the same. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

regardless of what W & L played on or didn't, they seem to have made prince up his game whether on material he did all by himself of stuff he opened up to the revolution.
Where's Boris? Curious on his take on this. I am disappointed that a new version saw the light of day before the old one. This lacks the gritty chaotic feel of the original. Music is the best...
