bastard We should call it Nelson's Law or something. For every heavy handed negative action there is a disproportionately small appeasement reaction. Just somewhere in the middle,

Is for free not better than only post it on the paid site? --- Where am I? ---

Nonsense that this is not through Lotusflow3r.com.
But still, very cool, and something for which I am thankful. Should be a hell of a show.

This whole inverse snobbery thing about people who are members of LF is silly anyway. The general consensus among current members seems to be that so far the site is disappointing in terms of content against membership fee. We also all agree the T-shirt thing is taking far too long. But still, those who have joined decided they could (and wanted to) afford it. Although carrots were dangled no concrete promises were made so we all knew what we were signing up for. You do it in the hope that something superb will be available at some point but if not then so be it.
The idea that "fanatics" sit around thinking of ways to defend the site or "justify" why it does not have content or news before other sites or sources is ridiculous. It really is not that important to devote that sort of energy to. Similarly if new exclusive music becomes available I'm certainly not going to go "Nyah Nyah nyer Nyah Nyah!" at those who did not join for whatever reason. Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

How do you guys know who is playing on this? And I must admit that this is the 1st time ever actually hearing this song. Loved it. And I haven't been back here to post since May cause of all the negativity which I see is still rampant.

Interesting
Sounds good(It sound like a Lotusflower rendition), but I've heard the original and the chemistry of friends and collaboration is missing:Eric Leeds, Wendy, Sheila E, Lisa, Atlanta and a few others... For a live 2009 performance I like it... But it's missing the people & key elements of what made it a really quirky energetic masterpiece I'd prefer a double release, go ahead a release a 2009 'live' of this and a remastered(but unaltered) 1986 version It's a bit sad that the people who helped create this won't benefit or take part in the performance...but ya never know, maybe the will some day

Did someone say it was John Blackwell on drums? I think at this point it is an intelligent guess (and of course some people are able to recognise specific playing on recordrings) based on Prince's confirmed(?) band that he is using for Montreux rehearsals. I think it was Rhonda Smith (bass), Renato Neto (keys) and John Blackwell (drums). I guess it's reasonably safe to assume that they are the players on this new jazzier version of No Light In A Large Room. Further backed up by Prince presumably giving this track as a preview/taster to the Montreux Jazz site. [Edited 7/15/09 5:37am] Just somewhere in the middle,

It changed quite a bit although it remains the same lyrical drive and rhythm in the song. Listen 2 your original of the song again I understand that it's a jazz rendition so how it's sung is going to be more mellow But it's missing that right touch of Lisa Wendy & Sheila's voices I don't think it's the same lyrical drive nor rhythm, but I like it

it is strange that Prince does not also have this on his own website but let's not moan about it being out there, free of charge, for everybody to listen to. Who knows, maybe it will be offered to us LF members in better quality or as part of something else. Or maybe it won't. In either case, let's just enjoy. Just somewhere in the middle,

ok, firstly, "thank u P", 4 puttin this out there.
the jazzy feel obviously suits the situation/time of the release, and is a nice touch. also, doesn't this kinda' endorse those who feel that at least 'some' feedback from the fanbase discussions and our passions and loves, get back 2 him ? after all, the chatter after he per4med the song was loud and long enuff 2 b heard and understood, that we kinda feel the song is a gem! (my heart still belongs 2 the 'original bootleg' if we can call it that, tho !) (oh, and just 2 please evry1, just put the 'original' version on LF. PRETTY PLEASE) [Edited 7/15/09 6:20am]

This version of the song made me realize I had one of the original lyrics totally wrong. I always thought he was singing, "...a picture of a woman with a dick in her hand." That's how I've sung that line for years. "I Was FINE Back in the Day!"

But it lacks the punch of the original with horns & Sheila. sorry it's sounding too "jazzlite" for me. And my biggest beef of course is that once again lotusflow3r.com has demonstrated its uselessness in getting (1) prince music to us & (2) getting prince news to us. Completely bizarre this wasn't previewed on his subscription site first. ---- I think this was done to promote the show at the festival. I never got the impression that news, information or free music was going to be on loutusflo3r.com.

I'm so glad we have www.lotusflow3r.com to pay for the privilege of getting new exclusive music. Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

First of all thanks to P for the track, love little surprises like this. However this track just highlights over the space of 5 minutes how safe and predictable his sound has become.
Anyone with half an ear for music will listen to the original [which can be described as original, a masterpiece and highly energetic in equal measure] and just sink into disappointment at this. The musicianship, originality and sheer braveness of the original has just had its soul ripped out. I really do pray that W&L will someday get back into the purple circle and guide our man. I still love him, the world really won't stop turning but come on P where's the boldness gone?.

The orignal track is great but that is not the type of music dude is going to be performing at the festival. Are some of you having a hard time understanding that this track is promoting the festival and giving a preview of what he will be doing at the fest.
