I love this album. I was happy w/ the direction he took w/ this b/c I am very much into jazz instrumental & experimental sounds. He kinda hit the vein of MMW & John Scofield a little but also far from what either of them would do... I listen to this album constantly & don't get tired of it. It's in several of my ipod's playlists<- I have very long playlists.  Thanks for your review swa! | |

N.E.W.S. is beautiful, pure music... at times tranquil, and at other times, heavier than metal.
Simply put, if Herbie Hancock had released this, it would be lauded as utmost genius... "his best in years"... "Herbie's new release breaks all boundaries", etc... Because it is Prince, the Prince fans hate it, and the critics don't care 2 get it. "He's a musician's musician..." | |

I snoozed on nooz, when it first oozed.
But I did looz, cuz now its.... coolz. Sorry, that was terrible. When it first came out, I wasn't digging it, I prefered Xpectation - now it's the other way round, I really like NEWS and never really listen to Xpectation. Some things sound better when you come back to them with fresh ears | |
