Top shelf album w/out any top shelf songs

I was recently rating my songs on my iPod and I noticed that I didn't give 5 stars to a single song from Musicology, and I only gave 4 stars to 2 of them (it would take too long for me to explain how I rate). This seemed odd to me because I have always really loved the album.

What it made me realize is that for me, Musicology is an album that taken as a whole is, to use a cliche, greater than the sum of its parts.

Does anyone else have an album they really love that does not have any standout songs?

ATWIAD is good as a concept type album. But individually, it's average. Yes, there are fun songs, and we all love them, but ultimately, it's an ALBUM, not a collection of songs. People love it, but I would imagine most are listening all the way through.

I feel this way about Batman.

I don't love any of the songs, really, but I put it on when I just wanna enjoy that Batman vibe. cool

Listening to an album is the exception for me now. Although I do get into album moods.
