Reflection and Miss You Besides being two amazing tracks, anyone else ever notice the striking similarities between these songs?
Lyrically, very close in reminiscing about memories gone by. Guitar is the forefront of both songs. Both very rhythmically sparse, Reflection mostly emphasizes the side stick on the 2 and 4, and Miss You has percussive guitar hits strong on the 2 and 4 with nothing else percussive. Two different keys, but basically the same chord progression. Reflection Verse: E A (I IV) "2 7's 2gether..." Chorus: F#m (ii) Break: B (V) The "..." before "Lookin' at U" Miss You Verse: F# B (I IV) "I miss the ocean..." Break: D#m C# (vi V) "Most of all baby.." With the exception of the ii in Reflection and the vi in Miss you, it's the same progression. Kinda cool to think Prince may have dug deep to outtakes from "Prince" as an inspiration/starting point for Reflection.

Miss You
An acoustic demo from 1979 about how much Prince misses his woman, the ocean, the summer breeze, the blue skies, and, oddly enough, "those big old fancy cars." It's one of 20 songs written for the Prince album. Source: DTT It's on The Work, I believe.
