Favorite rendition of The Ride? So what's your favorite performance on this song? The one found on The Undertaker, The Sacrifice of Victor, the Crystal Ball release, live at the Aladdin, or another performance? For me, it's the Sacrifice of Victor performance.

I guess my favorite's can only be the versions I know, which are "Crystal Ball," and "Live at the Alladin."
I love this song...very sexy, and this song illuminates Prince's blues...I love it. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

I like the Love 4 One Another special (that's the version that appeared on the Crystal Ball album) and the Live At The Aladdin. I like his lyric change on that one.

The Aladdin version is great for the "I like to watch. Television." The face he makes is priceless.
I like all of them. He really wails on The Undertaker. And Crystal Ball was the first version I heard, so that's a sentimental favorite. It's just a great song. I've never heard him do it poorly. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

apart from "you got the time, i got the ride" being like my least favorite prince lyric ever :lameasfuck:, i kinda don't mind any of the versions , for the parts alone . i might say the version from live at the rex though . that whole show kicks so much anyways . life's a bitch, but god forbid the bitch divorce me...

most any version of this song i've heard from the performances you mentioned
to about a dozen other ones from various shows have all been cool. i always like this song, wether he stretches it into 10 minutes or wether he just plays a condensed one. of all the ones out there i still think that the one on The Undertaker is my favorit though, simply because it was the first one i heard and it's the one that builds up best imo. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I have a version from a set called "June 7th". Asolutely incredible version of the Ride! Alot more bluesy, alot more raw. Great guitar playing!

"THE RIDE"-----
The SACRIFICE OF VICTOR PERFORMANCE is the best version EVER!!!! The version on the CRYSTAL BALL CD SET is the second best version. The third best version is the one on the "UNDERTAKER VIDEO." Every other version that I have heard is always cool.....but they do not compare at all to the ones that I have mentioned right here. I am sure that PRINCE himself would absolutely agree with me. [Edited 7/9/09 18:23pm] That just probably means you don't like blues. Hey everyone's different. I don't neccessarily like jazz either. "Why'd I waste my kisses on you baby?" R.I.P. Prince You've finally found your way back home. Well Done.

I'm not sure if The SACRIFICE OF VICTOR PERFORMANCE is the after show concert that P said he was inspired by Mayte when he performed 'The Ride'. He did some outlandish Hendrix version that was incredible at the Bagley Arena I think it was. P had the full Act-I hair and a orange n yellow half shirt.....great stuff! Don't u want to come , 3121. It's gonna be so much fun, 3121. That's where the party be, 3121. Y'all can come if u want to, but u can never leave!

My favorite version out of the ones i've heard has to be The Undertaker. "Why'd I waste my kisses on you baby?" R.I.P. Prince You've finally found your way back home. Well Done.
