Just saw Leno 3 minutes ago!!!

That was great man!!! Raw, tight, slick, perfect. Prince is on top of his game, and no one can touch him. Nobody can pull off a song that tight and cool in such a short amount of time...Very impressed. The bad looked cool, Sheila was crazy tight, Prince looked as good as I aspire to at 44 years young...Woo Hoo!!

Well, I thought the performance was good as always, but I was a little let down by Sheila E's performance. It definitely failed to impress me. She just looked like she was trying to steal the limelight. What the hell was with her putting her foot on the drum? I mean come on. Then she drags over the cymbol and starts banging on it right by Prince as if it was the most amazing thing to hit a cymbol with one hand on the beat. Fortunately it was dropped at the end though. I thought that was a pretty cool way to end it, and it made me forget about her performance. However, I watched it 2 or 3 more times afterwards, and remembered it again.

She was much cooler when she was playing with Beyonce a few months back. I know a lot of y'all love her, but I think she is very overrated.

Well, it seemed to me she wouldn't have done it had Prince not been comfortable with it. They've played together long enough where it wouldn't really be a problem for many people. Looked like they were having fun!! smile

Overrated, give me a break, sheila is the best, period.
And her performance made the show better, and she is beautiful and sexy, and her performance was tight. She compliments Prince and the NPG perfectly, Rhonda on Base, Sheila on Percussions, Prince and two sexy, real instrument playing women. And the way she threw the Cymbol's down at the end. Perfect. Sorry you don't dig her, but I guess you don't know perfection when you see it.
How you gonna get my back when you fronting.

I also thought sheila e was a welcome addition!!

She complemented him in a great way , and her lil cymbol maneuver was a welcome finish !!! (as a drummer , i realize it was only for show , nothing spectacular...) but i didnt think at all she was robbing the spotlight... hell , she is a star in her own right !!! ... and it was awesome to see em together ...

too bad my vcr failed to tape it ... damn electronic gadgets ...

Hey, she's only being the showman that Prince doesn't wanna be anymore! I miss that sort of "fun playing" look from him like back in the day! Though, I will admit he looked like he was having a little fun last night.

I attended the taping and saw Prince give Sheila a hug after their performance. So I'm sure he was comfortable with it.

Uh...is this the first time seeing Sheila??? She's always played with that energy and after playing the last 18 years with Prince they just fit together, she don't need to steal any limelight, it's her's already. Some people just don't have a frickin clue. rolleyes

Come on now EVN, Adam is only 19--a mere pup, a lad, if you will. Just because he is too young to remember anything before 1990 doesn't mean it's okay to rip on his ignorant ass. Can't we all just get along?

PS: Adam is from Calgary and their hockey team sucks, so I'm sure that has something to do with his attitude. Adam, you should think about moving to Vancouver.

Ah youth! You gotta check some things out before posting. Sheila is hardly overated. She's one of the best. As for her performance last night, make no mistake, Prince is in charge of what goes on on HIS stage. Decisions about her contribution were made already. As for the cymbal "dropping" at the end, Sheila released it. It wasn't an accident. Couldn't you tell that? Anyway, they were having BIG FUN last night and made the short time they were on memorable!

Fucking great to see sheila again. They are perfect together. I hope she becomes an official member of the band. Easy on the 19 year olds. I'm 19, and I've been a die hard since 2, Purple Rain and UTCM was my baby sitter for years. I'm sure I have a lot more knowledge than a lot of you up in here. Leave the youngin's be.

Excellent performance by Prince and he looked
handsome. Good to see Eric up there with Maceo
and Sheila was a plus. Jay was bowing at the end
just to much.

awww...

my first attacks, and I missed them in their real heat. (sniff)

Anyways, to respond...

Yep, I've seen many shows prior to 1990, and you're right, they do seem to have quite a chemistry together, but something about her performance on leno just annoyed me.

I think the enjoyment of a show is all subjective. So, to whoever said that I don't know perfection when I see it, I think that's an unfair statement. It doesn't say much at all actually. Just my opinion, which I outlined in my post. And your thoughts that it was perfect, was just your opinion.

As for the ignorant ass comment, I just want to add that my life is surrounded around music. I don't think it's fair to call someone ignorant based on their age, but rather their experiences. As for experiences, I've had a lot of them.

As for Sheila dropping her cymbol, yeah I knew that. I also mentioned that I thought it was a cool way to end it. I didn't mean dropped as in accidentally dropped.

And lastly, yes. Calgary Flames are licking donkey balls this year, just like every year. Congratulations on Vancouver tearing up the ice.

Anyways, thanks for all the attacks, and making me feel just like every other person on this site who might have opinions of ever so slight criticism.

Lastly, I loved the performance, and watched it a few times. I don't think Sheila ruined it, but I didn't think she was really hot shit either. And don't get me wrong, I think she's a very decent percussionist, I just think she's overrated. What's wrong with that? I mean, maybe I've heard different percussionists than you.

perhaps,
sav
