I've always liked this tune. I've never understood the hate.

I love it. I don't care what anyone says... it's a beautiful song. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

it's an okay song but the B-side is much better and what makes the single worth to have:
I Love U In Me..... from sleevographia Prince 4Ever.

I loved it ever since I first heard it.

There's not one track - one single track - that I dislike on the 'Batman' album. So I give this the thumbs-up. It's purty.
However, I know how much 'The Arms Of Orion' sends even hardcore Prince fans running for the hills so we should enjoy being the majority whilst it lasts.

Worst single EVER, and the ONLY song on Batman I don't like... sorry. Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors.

Yes, and yes to the b-side.

i've always liked arms of orion, btw i think it is Prince's best collaboration. I would have liked to hear Michael Jackson cover "arms of orion" with Sheena Easton... Lemme

magic mountain used to use this as their batman the ride theme song. Imagine listening to this song over and over waiting in a two hour line. Say it's just a dream...

I love the song. The B-side sounds almost the same. I don't understand how you can like one but not the other Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

Not even the first time I heard it. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

Certainly vies with 'Cream' and 'Take Me With U' as worst single. The misstep on the soundtrack but if I'm listening to the whole album, I'll let it ride, but I have to be alone . . . I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

First Prince song I REALLY disliked...
Going WTF - serious taste dysfunction going on there. Non-ironic cheese! and not even good enough to make it classic cheese (like, say, the Stylistics - he got close to that on some trax off Emancipation) "We've never been able to pull off a funk number"
"That's becuase we're soulless auttomatons"

In the late 80's, early 90's I use to play this in the car with my girl friend. She would always joke about both, The Arms of Orion and I love u in me and how sugary sweet they sounded. Back then Christopher Williams from the New Jack City Soundtrack was her style of singer at the time. I loved both songs Arms of Orion and I love u in me, and I played them around whoever was around me.

One of my all time favourite Prince songs!
I love it! It's beautiful, concise and to the point. I also think it's really clever. Very under-rated and a great example of the different styles of song writing Prince has. Shut up already, damn.

Yes I suffered through that. I was so embarrassed that they were using THAT song . .. If it must be played then play the album in its entirety. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

I've hated this song since the very first time I heard it. It's something he should have given away. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου
μηδὲν ὅλως σὺ λυποῦ πρὸς ὀλίγον ἐστὶ τὸ ζῆν τὸ τέλος ὁ χρόνος ἀπαιτεῖ.”

love the lower register voice... and the synth solo at the end... Amen. There are times when Prince sings in a classic style like he did in Orion with Sheena. They sounded beautiful together and the song is a guilty pleasure of mine. I know it's unpopular::ahem::to say so, but I love it when he sings in a "lilting" manner...just as in "She Loves Me 4 Me", the 2 songs sound like broadway musical numbers. Orion is lyrically and melodically perfect for a musical play. "I'd cross the stars for you...searchin for a lover in a sea of tranquility." Seemingly out of character for "the cool brotha." He really IS Romeo, isn't he?

Not a word I'd associated with the song. Hear, hear, SUPRMAN - NAY!!!! It's not clever, it's very unusually klichee w/o tongue in cheek, which doesn't work for me. One of his LEAST clever or inspired songs ever. Sorry. YAY!!!! To the B-side, though, how can anyone not see the vast difference in inspiration???? Now, that's a cool song!

it's alright for what it is. but it's obvious he was cashing in on some Linda Ronstadt & James Ingram "Somewhere Out There" Fievel bullshit.

Nay, nay a thousand times nay. I love me some Prince ballads but just five seconds of this syrupy pap is enough to make a person diabetic.
