co-sign what i love the most about it is how in some parts it's hard to tell if it's madonna or prince screaming/sighing/moaning, lol. love the atmosphere of the song. it sounds kind of lovesexy/batman era, but is nicely quirked up by madonna's input. always considered this to be a solid track. just weird enough to keep you going back to it.

i wonder if the reason many prince fans seem to hate it so much
is simply because it's a duet with madonna? is there as much hate for this song amongst her fans, because it's a duet with prince? how anyone could call this track 100% crap is beyond me. it's got so many elements of classic 80s prince that there must be some redeeming elements in it. but 100% crap? for real? damn. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I wonder that too. It's a Prince song through and through, immediately identifiable even before his voice comes in.

It is rumored that they "messed around" in the mid-80s.

LOVE SONG
Je suis prête. Vous êtes prêts aussi? Are you wasting my time Are you just being kind Oh no baby, my love isn't blind Are you wasting my time Are you just being kind Don't give me one of your lines Say what you mean, mean what you say Don't go and throw our love away God strike me dead if I did you wrong This is not a love song Are you just being kind Am I losing my mind [losin' your mind] Oh no baby [yeah] Are you wasting my time [wasting my time] Are you just being kind Oh no baby, my love isn't blind Are you wasting my time [time, time, time] Are you just being kind Don't go give me one of your lines Say what you mean, mean what you say Don't go and throw our love away God strike me dead if I did you wrong [did you wrong] This is not a love song Ooh, are you just being kind [what] Am I losing my mind Yeah Don't [wait] Time goes by so slowly for those who wait And those who run seem to have all the fun But am I wasting my time [she's so fine] Are you just being kind Come tell me what all your enemies told you Sugar, never ever did I do you wrong This is not a love song Are you just being kind Am I losing my mind [losin' your mind] Oh no baby [yeah] Are you wasting my time [wasting my time] Are you just being kind Oh no baby, my love isn't blind Are you wasting my time [time, time, time] Are you just being kind Don't go give me one of your lines Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide That's how I feel, don't fog my mind Mean what you say or baby I am gone This is not a love song Oooh, are you just being kind Embrasse moi [what] Am I losing my mind Pour la dernière fois Yeah Love song, love song Don't try to tell me what your enemies taught you I'm gone but I just want you to know [love song] That this is not a love song that I want to sing I'll die in your arms under the cherry moon...

me too, - and I believe Liza Minnelli & Pet Shop Boys likes the song too: "Loosing My Mind" with almost the same chorus...: that chorus: "You said you loved me, or were you just being kind, or am I loosing my mind"... this always reminds me of the Prince/ Madonna song. [Edited 7/6/09 10:45am] [Edited 7/6/09 10:47am] [Edited 7/6/09 21:32pm] Actually the Pet Shop Boys / Liza Minnelli track is a Stephen Sondheim song from his 1971 musical 'Follies'...so perhaps that's where Madonna got that lyric from...

I love this song. It was a dream come true for me to hear my two favorite artist together. I think they should do another duet.

Such a let down. Actually, "Act of Contrition" seems more like the two of them collaborating than "Love Song". The "What do you mean it's not in the computer!" part sort of sounds a bit like Prince. Do U Lie?

I love the song.
I just needed some UMPH and more lyrics. I wish he had given her "Love THy Will Be Done". That would have been so so so great for that album in particular. Madonnas vocals on that track would have stood on it's own. Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

Oh yeah! that is during the time when Madonna was doing Prince. will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.

Didn't like it much at first because it was not the big single I was expecting but I like it now. It's a Prince song through and through. Strange Prince is not credited on the album sleeve as a co-performer. Still, Act Of Contrition is better even though it is not a proper song. I think the song is completely out of place in that cd especially since it comes after Express Yourself. But it is a cool song all the same.
Yes I like Losing My Religion too but I am not too keen on Hung Up

I knew about this song before the album was released. In early 1989,I was reading all the articles about Madonna's upcoming album, and the Prince collaboration was mentioned. "Love Song" is a good song, but it's actually one of the weakest songs on the album. The other tracks are much stronger. Well it is still better than Cherish (I hate that song).

It's fucking great! Prince at his quirky best.
I guess it's a bit too radical though for the squares. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”
