Possessed: The Rise and Fall of Prince. I got this book the other day and got up to chapter 4, so far I'm not only intrigued by the authors protrayal of my lovely, sexy bitch we call Prince, but I'm also a bit angry however , not surprised by the idiotic, egotistical, manipulative actics he tried to pull with the people around him. I mean, I'm very serious when I say that this book, so far, has somewhat change my perpective about the artist, good and bad.

I thought it was a pretty enjoyable book. I don't agree with alot of the opinions expressed - the writer seems to think that Prince has released very little in the way of quality music in the last 20 years, and it's dated because it was finished prior to his huge pre-Musicology comeback, but it's still an interesting read. * * *

ive read most of it and the book seems very slanted they writer does not seem to really like prince that much therefore it really shows in the writing if I read anybook about prince's life i prefer to read "Dance Music Sex Romance: Prince: The First Decade" by Per Nilsen its more 2 sided and in my opinion better. I myself got some what upset while reading it thinking "what the hell is wrong with this guy is he trying to make him look bad on purpose or what" welp

Yeah, I know what you mean, the book itself is very biased and more of an opinion than something factual. [Edited 6/30/09 14:02pm]

POSSESSED is a superb book. It is an objective, appreciative and critical look at the man and his music. Those who refuse to read it are missing out. Plus, I dare say that while fans may not like what the author has to say, I doubt anyone could refute his contentions and doubts.

Agree 300%. Alan Leeds himself said right here in an interview w/ the Org that it was the best boook about Prince ever written.
