What up orgers been lurkin for a while and finaly felt the urge to post. I have been hearing about prince having alot of hip pain lately and taking pain meds.Most pain meds are a form of synthetic heroin and i wonder if that is what gives Lotus Flow3r that great organic sound. what yall think?

I am surprised at the very conservative and hostile nature of the replies to this thread. I think it's a fair question to speculate about whether drugs have informed any of Prince's work.

We all know the Black Album ecstasy story. We've all seen Prince prancing about James Brown's stage like a cocaine-fueled idiot. And I would say that some of the experimental stuff on LotusFlower could be interpreted as having an opiate-like feel. Do I think that LotusFlower is a drug influenced album? Personally, no, but I'm not going to kick some guy's ego about it.

LF is certainly a psychedelic album, but Prince has been able to do that for much of his career, so its nothing new. I doubt it was a directly influenced album, but if there is credence to him having to use prescription drugs to counteract pain, then they will be having some influence. Some here don't appreciate the fact that many prescription drugs are just as, if not more, harmful and addictive than those deemed to be illegal. They also derive a lot of these drugs from illegal drugs - heroin and opiates, of course, have widespread usage in pharmaceuticals....its just most like to stick their head up their ass when it comes to these points.
